"Price Tag" Settlers Labeled As "Terrorists" By US State Department

Price Tag settlers are terrorists. What's more destructive overall than this group is the government policy of allowing them to encroach on more and more land.

I support Israel and it's right to exist. If the Israelis want better relations to their neighbors so their right to exist isn't under constant threat, then they have to stop treating people within their borders as a persecuted minority and get serious about a two-state solution. Or really any actual solution other than the status quo.

Best case scenario is an isolationistic Jewish Theocratic state akin to today's Iran. Worst case scenario is a nuclear-armed, violent Jewish Theocratic state willing to use genocide to claim all of 'The Promised Land'.
Only there isn't anything actually "isolationist" about Iran, despite our best efforts to make them so. And we are really to blame for them being a theocracy.

Demographics indicate that in a few decades the more extreme elements - like Ultra Orthodox Jews and Settlers - will be a majority of the Israeli population IIRC.

I thought they said that about Israeli Arabs. A country populated by ultra-Orthodox, settlers, and Israeli Arabs. My God that sounds like a powder keg.

Thus why I put in "akin". ;)

Judaism has no intrinsic duty to proselytize, so I imagine that such a future Israeli state - once the untermenchen have been removed - will be relatively isolationistic and outwardly peaceful. They might feel the need to get involved in the surrounding countries as a matter of national security I suppose, but other than that I expect them to have no more territorial demands...

Yeah, good point. The Israeli Arabs also have a very healthy birth rate. Once the powder has burned through, it should be rather peaceful though. Oppressive, but peaceful. Like Saudi Arabia.

seems a court in Haifa just ruled a woman crushed to death 9 years ago by a bulldozer brought it on herself, she was protesting the bulldozing of palestinian homes and stood in front of the dozer like that Chinese protester in that standoff with a tank.

oh yeah, the tank driver didn't murder the guy - good thing he didn't get his orders from an Israeli court

WTH?

After all, she was so difficult to see with her bright red coat and all.

"I reject the suit," the judge said. "There is no justification to demand the state pay any damages."

He added that the soldiers had done their utmost to keep people away from the site. "She (Corrie) did not distance herself from the area, as any thinking person would have done."

In a ruling read out to the court, judge Oded Gershon called Corrie's death a "regrettable accident," but said the state was not responsible because the incident had occurred during what he termed a war-time situation.

Cindy Corrie said that previously a senior Israeli soldier had said there were "no civilians in war."

"She was standing on top of a pile of earth," fellow activist and eyewitness Richard Purssell, from Brighton, U.K., said at the time, according to the Guardian. "The driver cannot have failed to see her. As the blade pushed the pile, the earth rose up. Rachel slid down the pile. It looks as if her foot got caught. The driver didn't slow down; he just ran over her. Then he reversed the bulldozer back over her again."

Few Israelis showed much sympathy for Corrie's death, which took place at the height of the uprising in which thousands of Palestinians were killed and hundreds of Israelis died in suicide bombings.

Here's something: Those complaining that the USA is held hostage by Israeli lobbyists do not realize that Israel is held hostage Settler lobbyists. And if the Israeli government were to displease the settlers in any way, the settlers and their sympathisers might even contemplate open warfare with the Israeli government and start a settler republic that would probably embark on a genocidal policy against the Palestinians.

In other words, Israel must make the impossible choice between an Israeli-Palestinian war, or an Israeli-Judean war. Israeli cannot afford to treat the Palestinians better because it would face the wrath of the settlers. Yet Israel cannot afford to pamper the settlers more lest it would face the wrath of the international community.

I'd be tempted to call their bluff. It might be win with the Palestinians in the end when Israel fights against other Jews in their defense.
