I forgot to answer this.
Do you for one moment think we would be starting a turf war with civforum.de or any other forums? It's simply preposterous. By the same logic, no one should ever have started any other fora after CFC came into existence. Riiight?
Now, why would people from here go to civforum.de? Why would the civforum.de people come here? Do you read your posts before making them?
Edit: Again, I'm not trying to be testy, but sometimes your reasons for not doing something simply do not make sense.
Yeah, I do tend to read what I write, but I'm not entirely sure you've understood it in its context. I didn't say the absence of translations would start a 'turf war' with those forums, but rather that a consideration against fostering a German-language sub-community would be that we're not seeking to compete. And one of the primary reasons for requiring translations is that we don't want a non-English language sub-community to take root. That isn't to say that not requiring translations ipso facto puts us into competition with other forums, but that fostering a German-language sub-community would. Thus, a consideration to do so would be bigger than this issue, and therefore the proposal is crafted so as to avoid that happening. Now, it may very well be the case that the identified problem won't be an issue at all without translations (hence why it's negotiable, and without wanting to jump the gun, may in fact have been successfully negotiated), but that says nothing of the idea that we're not interested in a German-language sub-community taking hold here, which is the issue towards which the sentences you quoted were directed.
