Not particularly, I guess.

I dunno, I just don't find nationality to be that big a deal. They're all just lines on a globe...

America on the whole is a really cool place, and it's government is run fairly decently.

I suppose there are some aspects of America I'm proud of others I'm not.

I really haven't given this much thought...

Ainwood, then say that. It is a choice for a reason.

Yes. America is the greatest country in the world, not just militarily, but politically and economically as well.

Why would I be proud to be an American? It was just luck or destiny, either way I didn't earn it (well, maybe in the last lifetime).

Happy to be an American (and white, male, tall, good looking, smart, healthy, etc. etc. etc.) but not really "proud".

I love being American. I could have been born into a country without the freedoms and luxuries I enjoy.

I said yes, obviously. I'm proud that there are people in America that are willing to give up their lives for me, and that there are people who have given up their lives for me. Tonight, at the fireworks, was the first time I thought about enlisting after I graduate high school.

proud to be american? america does not have any set ideals anymore.. you are either proud to be a right wing american or a left wing. america is too divided now to be proud. thats why i have reverted to my european nationalities.

Uhm...I wouldnt be too sure about that. America is doing very, very well economically right now. Much better than many euro countries....

Thats like saying why take pride in your house since you just "live there"...why mow the yard? Why water the grass, why take pride in it? Of course people should be proud of their country for many reasons.

Why? Because it's your family
It's your culture
It's where your blood lies whether you just got of the boat or your family landed on plymoth rock.
I love my country for all it is illegal immgrants , crazy nascar fans all of it it's all good.

Come on your irish right? I just went to go see Flogging Molly last night, your not gonna tell me your not proud of something so quince (sp?) found only in your country.
Your country is what you are, My great great great grandmother got off the boat over 115 years ago only speaking gaelic and my great grandfather in 1918 after getting on the wrong boat (wanted to go to argentina) only speaking italian; My mom's side? 27 years ago hiding in the trunk of a car and she only spoke spanish.
Why do I speak english? because I am american Thats it I am American
That says more than a line on the globe it comes with ideals, a way of life, culture, family.

jayzus, i wish i had a response to that.
oh... heres one:
well, its not really a big deal to me.
ever try learning gaelic? i was schooled in it since age five
and i know more latin than irish...
