I just disocvered this about my schools soon to be future policy and its really irrtating me. I think this is really stupid and totally unwarranted. Bloody prudes.

P.D.A. Policy

Personal/Physical/Public Display of Affection: The _expression of feelings of affection towards others is the concern of the two individuals not of others. Therefore let good taste, self respect and respect for others be a guideline for public display of your feelings. PDA policy extends to before, during and after school, on school grounds, on school busses and at school related functions.

Behaviour contrary to these guidelines will result in disciplinary action, suspension and possible expulsion.

Any thoughts on such a stupid policy?

Break it in public and get in trouble. Watch the supporters rally to your cause

It is kind of a stupid rule. I see kids in the hallways in my old high school making public displays of affection in every corner.

During my time in high school my school too had such rules.

Good to see that such prudishness and stupidity continues to exist to hound the new generation of kids! Mwahahaha.... Why must we suffer alone eh?

The human race in general is gradually becoming a bunch of scared, uncool, paranoid, absurd cold-hearted bastards - so I really wouldn't want them watching me perform acts of affection in public, anyway. Too awkward... I couldn't enjoy it myself.

What a crappy era. The fun days are over.

The question is: "what made them do it?" Is the school director jealous of all those kids?

It doesn't look like anything is actually banned. You could get away with a great deal just watching out for self-respect and respect for others. It's just a wordy way of saying 'we don't want to write this silly policy, but we're required to, and, come to think of it, it'd be nice to have a way punishing any really extreme acts'

I can't even believe the Americans invented an acronym about this. :shake:

You guys are totally obsessed about sex. That's clearly unhealthy. If people are kissing in the street, let them live their life and focus on your own.

It's the puritan culture. I am of French descent, and I can't tell you how frustrating this place is, sexually. My goal is to return, before I lose my mind here. These people are funny, in an overly-conservative way. Hmmm, what else can I say. If you live here long enough, you might even start to think you're evil, just for being a human. I can't take it anymore. Tell me how it is over there... My DNA gives me vague ideas, from the distant past - but I can't be certain...

Hugging and other such attention-seeking foolishness should be banned.

I totally support this rule.

Amen, sister.

Depends.

Some people should get a room and stop inflicting their slop on the rest of us.

Who cares if two people are kissing in a street. Does it bother you? Does it offend you in any way? Only if it's loud and disruptive (such as, making out in a queue loudly) then i mind, but if you were walking across a street and you saw a man and a woman kissing on the other side of the road, would you be offended?

What a stupid thing to say. Hugging is 'attention-seeking?' Please elaborate on this, I can't see where your coming from here. Hugging is a natural in which people show their affection for each other. You would like a world were we walk past each other, with no acknoladgment, and love doesn't exist? Are you calling me a fool? I get hugs!

What a pathetic rule.

Ah bon?

I am a firm believer of "mind your own business."

Whats wrong with this? Its asking to use good taste at SCHOOL. Please. I dont think a place of learning asking kids to please not make out in the hallways is unreasonible. I dont think kissing your girlfriend before class is going to get you in trouble.

Errr...partially the fault of me and my friends I will admit...people have a tendancy to have sex in the bathrooms but then again thats not exactly public...then there was the incident when I fell into a girls brests face first once again that doesn't quite conform to that... I mean there could always be the fact that there was a sort of gangbang in the back of the classroom where oral were given under the table and several people became involved. Fine my school is slightly oversexed.

However this public affection nosense doesn't cover such things so its rather pointless.

Indeed, the American culture is completely obsessed by sex. The fact that the french page on eroticism is longer than the English page simply proves that it's more admitted in the French society whereas it's more hidden in the American society.

When French people talk about eroticism, American people are surfing on porn websites once alone in their houses. By the way, do you believe there are more American porn websites or more French porn websites ?

The simple fact that hugging is considered as a "P.D.A" proves how wackos you are about this. If two people hugging turns you on so much that you find it shameful, then you are severly obsessed about sex.

Well I personally disagree with the idea of regulating PDA, I'm just sick of the constant stereotyping... OH NOES AMERICANS ARE PRUDES etc.
