How does you public holiday system work in your country?

I know that in Australia that whenever a Public Holiday occurs on the weekend, we get the correspond Holiday on the Monday.

So that means that starting from tommorow we get our Christmas and Boxing day Holidays on the Monday and Tuesday. In effect we get a four day weekend.

Ours aren't postponed, hence there are no additional two holidays after the weekend. The same applies to all other holidays with a fixed date (so obviously not Easter Monday ;) ), like the national holiday (Day of the Unification, 3rd of October) or Labour Day (1st of May).

We don't Celebrate Boxing Day in the U.S.

We have the same as Australia re Xmas, boxing day, New Years' day and New Years' day holiday. So I therefore get today and tomorrow, as well as next monday and tuesday off.

For other holidays, it sucks. ANZAC day, and Waitangi day (our national holiday) get celebrated on the day they fall on. If its a weekend - tough.

This is what Wiki said and it makes what I said actually make some sense. It from this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_day
Wikipedia said:
Boxing Day is now a public holiday in the UK, and traditionally a day of sport, usually football and horseracing. Like other public holidays which may occur on a non-working day, the "day off" will occur on the first day after the public holiday that would otherwise be a working day. Thus if Boxing Day is a Saturday then 28 December will be a public holiday, while if Christmas Day falls on a Saturday then both Monday 27 December and Tuesday 28 December will be a public holiday to account for Christmas Day and Boxing Day being on non-working days.
This is exactly what is happening this year. Is there anything that Wiki does not know?
