Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

Assigning citizen specialists as artists will also increase the culture output. Also in vanilla, having a Great Artist (GA) create his masterpiece (also known as a Culture Bomb) will immediately raise the culture on the tiles. Please note that the Culture Bomb got nerfed in BTS.

I'm playing an OCC Always Peace game, so my entire army (circa 500 BC) consists of one warrior keeping my city happy, and another warrior and a scout out exploring. The AIs, being AIs, are building big armies, apparently unaware that they can't do anything with them. Question though: Will my hopelessly pathetic power ranking cause some of the AIs to demand tribute, even though they can't invade?

When I played a similar OCC, some of them did. However, since they could not DOW and I was pursuing a Space Race victory, I just thumbed my nose at them!

 Good point

Does anyone know how the "Ace" promotion works or where I can find more info about it?

About SAM Infantry - what is the range vs air attacks?

SAM's range is one tile, which means in addition to the one it is on. So, the range is the tile it is on and the 8 tiles immediately adjacent to it.

I've never used the Ace promo, so I can't answer that one.

Is there a limit to how many times you can defy a resolution?

I don't think so and if you reach the total economical breakdown way before reaching some sort of a limit. It is a cumulative +5 unhappiness each time. After 4 times, you simply lose control.

And don't forget the similar "In My Honest Opinion", which always amuses me since it always makes me think of what would make an opinion dishonest.

I prefer IMNSHO. It's more honest. (In My Not So Humble Opinion)

If you pass a anti-nuke vote and it gets past, what happens to existing nukes ? - and how is that affect PBEM games.

An anti-nuke votes means no one can build them. Existing ones are unaffected and can still be used. Although I can't say from experience, I don't think it would be any different in a PBEM game.

Important things to take note of when transitioning from Noble to Prince?

I have not played a Prince game yet but it will be my next one.

Nothing special, the actual increae in difficulty between the two levels is very small, so just do what you should be doing on noble anyway (building plenty of workers, improving tiles, researching worker techs) and you should be fine. It would be worth getting used to running some specialists in a GP farm though, and planning and using great people from it as this skill becomes very important when you hit Monarch+.
