Racist or Inappropriate?

I'm doing a degree in Aerospace Engineering in Sheffield UK, a city with a very strong Muslim community. I've been described as loud, extremely loud. I'm also an atheist.

Last Thursday our class had a go in the flight simulator (simulating a A320) as a context building exercise. I went in and crashed, it was the first time I tried to land the plane. So a few people went in and crashed a course-mate went in was for lack of a better phrase <snip> around with it doing barrels rolls and what-not, when coming in to land he decided to play chicken with the airport below, my comment at this time was Alluh-Al-Ackbar, and me being me it was loud and everyone heard it.

So the question is was i being A- Racist or B-Inappropriate

Racist, inappropriate, and absolutely hilarious. For someone like me, among friends, that would be seen as a bit of banter, but it could easily offend quite a lot of people who happened to casually see it. It's probably a good idea to be less blatantly obnoxious in public.
