I don't have enough money to go to Britain for Jesusmas and Spring break is too short. So I'll have to go in the summer if I have enough money saved up. Hopefully I will.

Was sick last night, should be at school today but needed a day off to recuperate. You know that horrible feeling where you constantly feel like you are going to be sick but you also know you won't be sick? Yeah... that's me at the minute.

Yeah their about to enact the same ban around here. I fear most good joints will be forced to close. Apparently you can smoke in psychiatric institutions but not at bars, what idiocy.

It's the smaller bars that don't have room for a smoking facility that get hurt here. Especially the Rock and Blues bars which are my favourites.

That's okay, I even it out by hoping that people who want to smoke in my bars get run over by a bus.

You could easily make your bars non smoking. No need for a ban.

Over here the hype of losing business because of anti smoking regulations didn't pan out that way for bars and restaurants.

Specific kinds of bars go belly up (Rock/blues bar). But they are replaced by other kinds of bars. So the yearly turnover stays the same.

In the UK pubs lost business due to smoking ban, but made it back by improving the quality of food they served (i.e. turned into half-pub half-restaurant).

Bars around here usually don't double as restaurants, so they don't have that perk.

My mate also had to buy the: it won't be bad for business line. And in the summertime, it wasn't. But now the weather is creeping in and last saturday the place was deserted. And the few people who were there were outside 50% of the time. He had to fire his two employees, since he can't pay them and doesn't need them anymore.

Mind you, earlier I wasn't talking about non-smokers ... but anti-smokers. The people lobbying to take my choice away from me. I can understand why a non-smoker wouldn't want to be a smoking bar. So this leaves me wondering, with all the potential market out there, why weren't there non-smoking bars?

I'd have no problem with having both smoking and non-smoking bars, but, as this never seems to happen, I'm quite happy with having smoking banned everywhere.
