Just heard my first rocket explode. Sounded close, but my mom said it wasn't in the town but in a nearby moshav. (That could be wrong, since she was just going by what the alert said. There was no siren here though.)

:eek2: Make sure you have a basement you can use as a bunker just in case, and hope that the leaders in the region get it into their heads that peace is worth achieving.

*don't discuss Israel/Arab/Iran/etc. politics here or the mods will have our skins

Yeah, unfortunately my house is really old. No safe room or basement.

Do you at least have a bathroom or storage room that has no windows? It's better than nothing.

For tornadoes, if you don't have a basement you're supposed to go to the middle of the house. I don't know if that would work for rockets though.

Did I miss something?! :gripe:WTH are you that people are firing rockets at you?! :faint: Have you thought about leaving? BTW: This is the perfect time to panic! :run:

Be careful. I hear they are loading their rockets with peanuts now, since we all know that peanut allergies kill more Israelis than Palestinian rockets do.

It works wonders with snipers, at least. As for rockets… I know nothing about how Mouthwash's house is built.

The safest rooms are the bedrooms, because the roof there is more solid. Just drop to the floor and cover my head when a rocket is coming.

Anyway, this is the only one I've ever heard. Chances are you won't see me mysteriously stop posting.

I actually do have a fairly serious peanut allergy (not joking), so thank you for your concern.

I was really expecting a mail package today, to the point where all my plans revolved around it.

It's not here.

It was delivered to Joe Biden by mistake.

How my dad's flu shot situation was resolved: I ended up taking the handi-bus to the nursing home and signing the consent form. Now I just need to get to a pharmacy and get my own shot.

Car computers are set up to sense when a battery is unable to support all the functions the car runs when it is turned off. So it disables them to save power for the more critical systems.
Yes and no. The key difference is that this car has an absolute unit of a battery pack because it's a hybrid. They even have instructions on how to jump the lead acid battery using the hybrid. Unfortunately that doesn't work because there was a fault in the electrical system that took the whole thing down. The lead acid battery turned out to be fine but it could not handle a phantom 1.5 A continuous load when the engine was off. There was a short that made the whole thing work. If it had just been a dead lead battery I would have been able to self-jump it but unfortunately the situation was worse than that.
It's difficult to get by with 2 people and 1 car these days. So think it through. If you can, great. If you can't, go for a low price second vehicle.
It is difficult but right now we're in a spot where one of our cars sits there unused for weeks on end. Up until last year we absolutely needed two cars due to the both of us having a commute but now I just walk everywhere. We're going to a dealership to see about trading in our two cars in favor of a single new one. Unsure how well the dealership will work with us but I think if we stay with the same brand they may be flexible. So long as we spend less than ~2k getting out of our lease we'll still come out ahead.

I tried ordering something online last night, and there's a glitch; the website doesn't recognize my password and when I tried to reset it, the reset instructions didn't arrive in my email. Since the stuff I wanted was on sale ($30 cheaper than everywhere else), I went ahead and made the purchase as a guest... and didn't get an email receipt.

The next step was to contact customer service. The website said to expect a reply within 24-48 hours, and I must say they're prompt.

Irritatingly prompt.

I got a phone call from a customer service call centre at 6:30 AM! When I asked the agent where he was calling from, he said "The Philippines, and it's 8:30 pm here."

While it's nice to know this is going to be looked into (they do have a record of my purchase so at least that went through and I'll get my stuff), don't people check to see what time zone they're calling into? :gripe:

Is there a reason you don't just sell the car you're not using?

Well, I'm afraid I'm a criminal :(

When I got home from my grocery shopping trip today, I saw I only was charged for one of my boxes of wine I bought. So I've got to go back now and fix this and pay for all my other boxes, and I already felt extremely embarrassed making my purchase in the first place and now I'll really have to draw attention to my drinking problem :(

You have a drinking problem? BTW, if they didn't charge you you are not a criminal. going back to fix their error is nice, but you did nothing wrong.

Yeah, If I notice the error when I'm still at the register, I'll have it fixed but if I don't notice it till I get home, I don't feel the need to have it corrected.
Regardless of whether it's a win or a loss.
