Rant: I didn't fasten the lid onto my cup right and spilled on my clothes.

I sometimes forget to properly close the lid on my coffee cup after making coffee so when i shake it*, bad things happen.Rant: I didn't fasten the lid onto my cup right and spilled on my clothes.![]()
If there's something bothering him, I want to be able to help. I don't want him to push his concerns away, I want him to share what's going on with me so I can be here for him. It's my job to get those things off his mind, not his lol.Wanna bet?
Consider, there might be times when MrKB gets home from work, but his mind is still on something that happened during his shift, or maybe there was an announcement about a mysterious mandatory meeting that he has to attend on his next shift and he's concerned what it might be about...at those times can't you feel the "his mind is elsewhere"? Not that that kind of thing is a "major insult" fault, but people feel it, and it doesn't feel good. If it happens continuously eventually the person comes across as "absent even when they are here, workaholic married to their job," and material for a divorce.
What would be missing there is that you want his full attention. That's normal. And very very few people can actually bring anything close to their full attention to bear, because most people are so cluttered up with yesterday, and tomorrow, and things that might be right now but even if they are they are half a world away.
So when you encounter someone who can, and will, generate their full attention and turn it all on you it leaves an impression that is very hard to forget...but don't expect that their attention will still be on you the next day when they are down the road, because they will be focusing that same way on wherever they are then. I'm that guy.
I work in financial security, there are lots of people who take it very, very seriously. Did something happen? Did someone you know get hurt or scammed?Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who actually cares about security.

I'm sorry they're being so dismissive of your suggestions, I certainly know what that feels like. I hope you're able to do what you can to make your work feel more secure.
the current security procedures have gaping holes in them that would make it relatively easy for a mass shooter to get through undetected until they actually start shooting people.
What are the chances they'll blame you if that does happen?

*i prefer to close the lid and shake the thermos-cup instead of stirring it.

And also it's very often I'll be thinking about something I learned yesterday, something I need to do tomorrow, and what I'm focusing on right now all at the same time. I mean, a human mind is capable of processing many thoughts and feelings simultaneously, right?
And he'd d*** well better be thinking about me tomorrow when he's "down the road" lol!

Well, no, actually. In that aspect the brain is actually very much like the processor in a computer in that it simulates "multi-tasking" through a process of time slicing. Keeping the victi...err, beloved center of attention from recognizing that you are running multiple background tasks may seem effective, but on some deep level they are always aware of it. People usually can be counted on to not call you on it though, because they are doing the same thing to you. I'm just not one of those. I seldom call people on it, just not for that reason, but I know how to not do it myself. And also it's very often I'll be thinking about something I learned yesterday, something I need to do tomorrow, and what I'm focusing on right now all at the same time. Are you multitasking right now?
From my own experience in being hired to assess how people are doing things, I know that usually what they really want is to be told that they've been doing things right all along and only need tweaks.Thanks. It's especially frustrating since upgrading security and my training/experience in counter-terrorism is why they hired me in the first place.
This is a very silly thing to rant about, but...
MusicBee has a pretty nice miniplayer. Except for one thing:[/img]
First-world problems, I know.
