Random Rants #63: These Rants Don't Run

My best passengers are a mix of demographcs. My median quality passengers are a mix of demographics. My worst passengers are almost all women. Why is this. Why do I feel like I can't voice this publicly without ensuing a turd typhoon.
have you considered broaching the topic of ethics in games journalism?

Gender-related ethics?

Big server upgrade at work today, sock draft postponed until tomorrow or maybe even Friday.

As for women being the worst passengers, maybe it just depends on who is driving, male, female, etc. Or maybe Hygro gets all the problem women because that's just the sort of women he attracts, or it's not all women who are bad passengers, but rather women in the socio-economic range who live in that geographic area who more likely to make use of chaffeur services or whatever. But I mean, I don't know any of the context here, so this is all probably wrong. Either way, sock draft tomorrow, place your bets

Where is Commodore he did Uber maybe he can corroborate.

I do some volunteer driving to hospitals. Most of my clients are elderly women who talk just about incessantly.

But the client who talks the most is an elderly man. He literally leaks noise the whole way there and the whole way back.

When I drop him off, my ears are bleeding.

It's a strange land where the occasional awkward silence simply doesn't exist.

In what ways are your female passengers bad passengers? Maybe that's just how women who live in your area behave. Not that I don't believe you, I've never driven anyone anywhere, so I wouldn't really know, but from what I've heard from cab and uber drivers over the years the worst passengers are drunk college students, male and female.

My worst passengers were all drunks and didn't seem to have any correlation to gender, race, etc. Drunks are just horrible people to be around when you are the sober one.

I will say I found younger people to be much more standoffish and dismissive of me than my older passengers. Although, the younger crowd seems to make up for it by being better tippers.

Each time I've used Uber (3 times total now), I've been told that "you don't tip". So I don't. Is that a geographic thing? Do people tip uber drivers in some places and not in others?

Uber's official policy is that tipping isn't necessary and drivers shouldn't ask for tips, but if the customer wants to tip the driver is allowed to accept.

How many people tip and how much is typical? Sorry if that feels like an intrusive question, but I'm curious in case I ever use uber.

I'd say around 20% of passengers tip and I have received a wide range in terms of amount. Most people that tip usually give a buck or two, but I've had people give me larger amounts like $20. I remember at least two occasions where the passenger actually gave me a tip that was larger than the fare itself.

Hardly ever, but this isn't Unitedstatesia.

Interesting. I wanted to tip my drivers, but so far each one of them has told me not to.

They are probably just wording it incorrectly. The little introductory video I watched when I first signed up said if the passenger tries to to tip, inform them that tipping isn't necessary, and if they still offer the tip it is okay to accept it.

EDIT: Either that, or Uber has changed their policy to completely disallow tipping.

Literally will not finish until you start. And the sooner you start the sooner you're finished and not stressing anymore.
