It seems my body skips the energizing part. :(

Interesting new avatar! What is it?

It is Commander Sparky. He's Meklar ship captain from Master of Orion 2

I don't know why I keep trying caffeine. All it does is make my head feel weird.
Caffeine has zero effect on me. Except it large doses, then is makes me nauseous and tired. I never makes me any more alert/awake.

Oh I forgot to mention, last night I tried some certain chemical oil that's now legal in Michigan and my friend from work gave me.

I was really out of my mind, I ended up in a fit of hysterics because I kept thinking really stupid things were the funniest things in the world, like "If I have two goats and you give me two more goats, what do I have? A goat farm!"

A really weird feeling, very different than being intoxicated because I can really remember everything pretty well. I don't know if I'll ever be doing that again.

High or not, the logic here is sound!

After ten years of honoring my US-issued credit card, Steam has decided it no longer will. :wallbash:
I wandered over to GOG, but it has not many selections and they are expensive.
My days of buying computer games are over.

"Alas poor Steam, I knew it Horatio."

The book I'm reading right now started out by having the main character hunt down and herd 30 miniature goat zombies.

Ah, yes, Steam. They've been making great decisions these past years.

Like preventing you from buying games for your friends unless you're in the US. Price-adjusting for different regions is too tough, I guess.

So you would say you're not in love with Mary Jane :(

Nice!

I've been revisiting MOO1. Should probably try Impossible, but I lose often enough on Hard that it's still fun. Decided to try the Darlocks after pulling a win out with the Mrrrshans, rolled the map, got the scouts out, no good planets past the first within 4, hope to get fuel cells 5 so I don't have to tech straight propulsion. Rolled fuel tech 4. Crap. Bad start, hopefully the opponents aren't strong*, onto the next fuel cells! <rolls inertial stabilizer> Balls. Tech tundra colonization instead to expand. Settle a planet. Bulrathis. Right next door. Well, that's an instawar. Then come in scouts from the Alkari, the Humans, and the Klackons. That's 3 more insta wars. Whose the fifth, stuck in some corner of the galaxy alone with a ring of high-colonization-tech worlds? The Psilons. Of course. On a high note, after staving off the bear rain I don't think I'm going to be able to hold off the bug swarm long enough to get melted by the techies. Worst start I've had in ages!

*I know you can check the map to see which races are there, I usually like to meet them via scouts, sort of exciting.

Hey thanks ! :)

I didn't played MOO1 but MOO2 quite extensively ! :D I have to admit I've never won higher than average difficulty . I guess I lack somewhat in ship design because I think inertial stabilizer is quite usefull, and later in game I never leave homeworld without inertial nullifier. (my dream combo is phasing cloak + time warp faciliator + hyper x capacitors but it's really hard to get because techs are late in game) .When playing Darlocks in MOO2 Psilon player is a pure blessing ! You can move all the spare colonists to production rolling out Doom Stars, Titans and or/ Battleships while stealing all the tech You want from them :D I hate Klackons in my games ! They got so much production boosts it's usually nowhere nice left to settle a colony... because they spam colony ships quite often ;)

Been a while since I played moo2. I did, it was probably just actually still in the 90s. The balance is significantly different. I remember "creative" in moo2 being absolutely absurd, but in moo1 the Psilon tech bonus is so strong that they're the #1 best race hands down. Addressing what to do in the game, the first question is "are the Psilons on this map?" Well, no, actually, it's "are my planets immediately going to start raining bears" but that's less frequent. If nobody wars the Psilons early in moo1 to keep them down, they are going to settle all the hostile worlds first, they are going to terraform the crap out of them, and then they are going to annihilate your fleet with swarms of deathballs your ships can't bring down. The AI in that version is ruthless*. Inertial stabilizers are a great early combat tech. Super useful for fighting early when they come out, but if what you really need is a different fuel range cell and you roll the stabilizer(techs accessible to research are randomly generated in moo1(each race has an affinity for each tech area)), you're really boned. Time to go trade something absurdly useful to the AI for fuel range. Unless you're the Darlocks, then they're all coming for you.

Klackons are stupidly good in moo1 too. #2 best no question. Their bonus is probably even better and they have no downside other than sucking at propulsion, which usually keeps them back from swarming everything. However, if they get speed 3 engines and range 5 early? Game's probably over. They build too fast, they're going to take everything.

*Generated, near as I can tell, with a pretty simple relationship ratio between population comparison and power comparison. If you have too much more population than they do, they hate you, full stop. So when you start approaching/surpassing 1/3 of galaxy total population(enough to block another race winning the council election all on your own) everyone is going to start hating you, you better be ready to war with 2/3 of galaxy at that point if you want to win. If they have too much more power than you do, in that they're winning, they're going to decide they can kill you and will attempt to do so. They'll break non-aggression pacts and alliances if they game is starting to be on the line. It's programmed to try and win, which is nice.

I'm afraid I don't quite get your reference? Is this about the song by Rick James? Because I've never heard it.

It is a reference to the Rick James song and I feel like we had this same conversation recently lol
It's not my fault I'm obsessed with marijuana, I'm an addict!

Maybe ... this doesn't seem like a piece of trivia my mind will latch onto, so I'm likely to forget again.

We should probably move this conversation to the games thread ;) But yeah "creative" trait in MOO2 is hands down #1 , they've made a patch so that it costs 8 out of 10 race points instead of the pre-patch 6 during custom race design. Psilons come with it so when they are in game, Darloks won't miss any techs too :D . Klackons on the other hand have been nerfed to "uncreative" trait but as long as they got many colonies they make up for it pretty easily with spies and an early and quick military advantage. When they can get their "mandibles" on "Galactic Unification" which boosts production by a whooping +100 % they're pretty much unstoppable ;)

Spoiler Klackon highlights + their theme music :

edit: Forgot to mention :" Creative" races will discover ALL the techs in the field of research and "Uncreative" will get just 1 tech chosen at random ;)
