Perhaps one of you young folks needs to start an Aging thread so all your nightmares can be made real! :mischief:

Woke up again. It's the worst. So over it.

There's a solution to this waking up thing which is to simply stay up all night playing videogames.

I'll give that one a try tonight, maybe.

My boss is visiting the city, and at some point someone is going to remind him that I live there. Naturally, he will be excited and want to go out for dinner somewhere.

Fingers crossed he remembers when it's too late.

I take it you either don't like your boss, or he wouldn't be footing the bill, or eating out is something you don't enjoy anyway?

I'm not very presentable IRL these days, and don't even have the clothes necessary for group outings anymore. The only people I ever see now are doctors. Also, he is a successful lawyer, so his budget far outweighs mine ($0).

Fell asleep before 11.

You're still doing editing and such for people, right? So this person is just one of your clients? Or are you in a different setup now? Sorry if I've misunderstood and misread anything.

In my case, I just tell people I'm not well enough to participate in whatever it is they want. There's a small gaming group that's been after me for months to get together at the mall for whatever, and I keep wondering why the mall is so essential. I haven't been there for over 2 years, and barely have the energy to get around the apartment these days (when it gets to never going between rooms without my canes, the next step down is the hospital where I don't want to go because it's literally full - 14 ambulances backed up in the parking lot last Monday and all surgeries canceled and sent elsewhere - there's absolutely no room). I really haven't felt well in ages, not since the fall I had several months ago.

The alternative I offered is to book the social room here. It's free, with a kitchenette and bathroom, plus wifi. There's everything there we could possibly need. There's even an intercom so we could order takeout if we wanted. And for me it means a trip down the elevator and no fuss or expense of booking a transit ride and worrying about where in the mall they've closed off the resting places for "social distancing."

Yes, but I'm also an editor for a company that publishes boxed text for tabletop campaigns. I call him my boss mostly because he's consistently used me for over a year now and he's the owner/manager of the team, and is responsible for 40-50% of my income.

Ah, okay. Yes, it does mean careful management of your top clients. That's why I ended up keeping crazy, insane hours for my nursing student clients. Some of them had 8 am classes, so I figured it was easier to sleep during the day and do the typing at night - no distractions from the phone or people at the door.

One client I had got my number from someone and brought his girlfriend's chemistry paper for me to type. She needed to pick it up by 6 am to drive to Edmonton to turn it in by 8 am (she went to U of A). So her boyfriend quizzed me on whether or not I knew anything about chemistry (I'd had four years of it) and if mathematical symbols would be doable. I told him that some symbols are doable by combining certain letters and symbols and for what weren't... I had a geometry set, good black pens, and knew how to write Greek letters. He asked if I had a spell checker, and I tapped my head and said, "Yep, right here. I keep a dictionary and grammar guide on hand if I'm not sure of something. I have several formatting manuals for APA, MLA, and others."

So he decided to trust me with her paper, and yeah, I did have to hand-draw a couple of diagrams, type some chemical equations, and write in some Greek letters (this was in my pre-computer days when I used an electric typewriter). His girlfriend turned up promptly at 6 am, was happy with how it turned out, gave me a tip, and left for her trip to Edmonton.

I knew that other clients would be along in about 3 hours to pick up their stuff, but my grandmother would deal with them. I'd been up all night and was tired, so I swept the snow off the porch and did the sidewalks (never wanted to risk a client slipping or having to wade through snow), and went to bed.

(actually there were times that winter when I'd take a snow-clearing break from doing the papers because sweeping snow in -20C at 3 am was a great way to wake up a bit and clear my head)

Last Fall, the single-serving cups of yogurt I buy were $0.99. Early this year, maybe January, they went up to $1.09. 3 weeks ago, they went up to $1.19. This morning, they're $1.29. 30% increase in 7-8 months?

I bought avocados last Sunday. I cut into one of them today and it was still so hard that when I tried to pull it apart the seed in the middle split in two.

Why?

Also, does so short a video get you a considerable income due to the massive views?

Can't people just send me the money? I don't feel like using plasticine.

A family pack of chicken here has gone from $12 to $18. :) Hey, did you hear about all the mega corporations hitting record profits? Inflation really is hitting everyone hard.
