Finally in the mood to start Game of Thrones on Nexflix, and it's no longer on Netflix. :aargh:

If you are looking for a decent medieval-esque drama, The Last Kingdom, based on a Bernard Cornwell series, is pretty decent. It is set in the Kingdom of Wessex during the Dark Age and Viking invasions.

Rant:
>Went to do my taxes after putting it off.
>Discovered the H&R Block website is down.
>Remembered the government knows how much money I made and withheld.
>Realized the whole US tax payment setup is stupid.
>Considering starting a Communist Revolution so I can just 'pre-pay' my taxes.

I spent the night in Tagbilaran because I am required to telephone my pension fund to assure them I am still alive. The only phone I know here that connects with the US is in a hotel, and I have to rent a room to us it. I placed the call at 02:00 so that it would take place during California business hours,

They agreed I am alive, and will extend my payments for another 2 years, at which time I will have to call again.

They agreed I am alive,
Well, that's not nothin'.

If they'd had Tim's new phone invention, you'd have have had to solve a Captcha test; you wouldn't have been able to make out the particular puzzle they gave you, and the company would have declared you dead.

Turbotax :p

The bureaucracy saves the day!. Did they ask you your mother's maiden name or the name of your first pet?

How many people really need much help filing these days. The number of people itemizing has been greatly reduced. This will be the last time we pay to have it prepared. It was quite simple. Too bad it was attached to a dumb temporary tax cut or I could actually appreciate trump for something.

I dunno, I'm just doing my taxes the same way my dad showed me when I first had to do taxes. I'm more grumpy about their website glitching out than anything else.

Turbo tax on a PC (not online) is quick and easy without glitches.

I began working on my taxes only to discover that the 1040A form is out and I have to use the big ol' 1040 form. Nasty surprise #2 is the handy space for "country" has been eliminated and I have go to the internet cafe and print out an additional attachment just to tell them I'm in the Philippines. [pissed]

California is even worse. I have two sources of income: pension & social security, both are exempt under California law. I get to fill out 9 pages of forms to tell them this. :wallbash:

Their crappy website finally let me log in, and now it keeps encountering server errors and making me re-enter information.
Looks like the Gods of the Internet and Their Many Little Irritants are trying to tell me to do taxes tomorrow.

I'm reminded of the time when I got a letter from the electricity company informing me that because I had died (the letter was addressed to my estate), they were going to cut off my services unless I paid them.

The only thing I can think of that happened is that they got confused between my grandmother and me (her first name is my middle name). This was about 12 years after she died.

I always choose the "make up your own security question" option when it's offered. That way you can set up something that nobody else can possibly guess (or look up about you). Back when someone impersonated me to the telecom company, I told them I wanted an additional security question asked, that I would make up and provide the answer for and it would NOT be one of the standard crap questions like mother's maiden name. That information is so easy for a scammer or identity thief to look up that it's useless for security purposes.

My rant: I had to throw out my beautiful Thomas Kinkade clock. The batteries needed changing and I discovered that the one that operates the whole thing had leaked and completely ruined the mechanism. It's unfixable, and I've just done an online search for a replacement... and the only ones that are available are either Disney garbage, one that plays Christmas carols (don't like the picture) or one that has a nice picture but plays "Amazing Grace" every hour. And of course the eBay sellers all seem to be affiliated with Global Shipping, which is eBay's way of doing an end-run around the rules that govern what is and isn't dinged with import duties. I never buy from those sellers.

That's funny, IIRC you're in Indiana or Illinois right? I've known about "bomb cyclones" for a while but only because we had a "bomb cyclone" nor'easter like five years ago.

Michigan.

When was game of thrones ever on netflix? HBO has their own streaming service, I don't think any HBO shows have been on netflix.

Numbering is getting hipstier. Next it should be in modulo ^_^

Na, Hex or Octal please.

Rant: Messy day. Was every half hour off to another meeting, and basically didn't get anything done besides being in meetings and writing meeting notes.
Tomorrow is only a bit better, and some of it is optional. so well... let's see.

First rule of management. Always delegate the writing of meeting notes. :p
