This is probably partially my fault since I accidentally paperworked myself as "head of household" on my W-2 for my primary job. However, I added on the two-month side-job where I made 15% of my annual and paid in 40% of my federal taxes and my 'tax due' amount doubled... ugh.

side-rant: adding in my student loans would decrease my tax debt by about $25-30, however turbotax wants me to pay $60 to file my taxes if I do that.
There are free e-filing options for people in your income bracket. The IRS website links to them.

Do you live with family? If so, then yeah HoH filing would have resulted in under witholding over the year. That sucks. :(

Proper societies use tax dollars to take care of those who have trouble doing so on their own and to support the general welfare. I pay a bunch and don't mind doing so.
I didn't want to steal Syn's thunder a few days ago when he said he was happy paying taxes but his comment reminded me that this year was the first where I owed a lot of money and was still happy about that. I had a good year and I don't need it all for once. I've owed before and it sucked because it wiped out all of my savings but this year was very different.

Although it does suck that I ended up paying more this year than last thanks to changes in the tax cut. I'm pretty pissed that all of the cuts went to the very top while most everyone else got next to nothing or in situations like mine, a tax hike.

Remind me never to make you angry over the phone... :hide:

It is quite stressful and sometime embarrassing, for instance, one director told me that this week there will be 3 days off, after I posted it in management group and wait for a day without any objection after the announcement first my officer start ejecting some unnecessary question which explodes me, however the worst is today,

The head director changed the decision, the days off should be 2 instead of 3, while the rest to be allocated for next week, this time it is emperor who spoke so I cannot vomit at him, instead I told him "next time you should read the draft that I offered you, and if you think it is not what it supposed to be I can fixed it before the announcement, you really giving me a hard time now" he apologized but he cannot changed his decision. Now the workers swarm toward me because they already bought plane ticket and reserved hotel and what have you, well I should fix (using their leave and other means without my boss knowing) and calm the situation.

They pretty much paying me good money for the little job that I do. However the things that I do not everybody want to do it lol that's include pressing and firing the worker just to mention a few. But I'm glad the head director is really a generous and a helpful person and the employee treat him like a kind of charismatic leader (all of the debt that was taken by the employee are given without interest, and many even forgiven, hence the loyalty is quite crazy here), but in return the flow must goes according to his direction. Well, yea.

I have an interview coming up. I know it should be a rave, but I’m nervous as crap.

From my experience, people want to hire a worker that able to:
1. Do the Job (they can rely on the worker)
2. low possibility to turn over (plan to build their career in that company)
3. Manageable (open for learning new things and new working pattern, not rigid and self righteous, able to be instructed)
4. Honest (rare commodity these day)

I turn out to be in favor for those who need the job badly, I prefer them than those who excel academically and young but whiny, because they proves to be more motivated and ambitious, and more adaptable to unique working system that the company had.

So don't feel down if there are many younger and smarter candidates than you, you can competes in other aspect that they overlook. Many candidate focus on how good and smart they are, but few of them try to emanates on how adaptable they are to the difference system, how eager they are to work and how easy they are to manage. You know, it is better to ride a donkey, than a red horse that kicks you from the pedestal.

I've taken from society more than I've contributed. I'm objectively a leech. What some random homeless people get up to is irrelevant to me.
If you say so. But don't expect me to consider myself one.

Frank Herbert advises to beware of the charismatic leader.

He works without a system, and in many occasion we cannot reason with him because he uses more his intuition and how he feel about something, the way he is debating is non-nonsensical, but in the end everything goes his way. He really reminds me of a successful feudal lord like Oda Nobunaga, both a fool and a genius at the same time.

He is a double edge sword, in other hand I always become a victim of his randomness, there are no pattern for his character and he is constantly testing us, while in the other hand the bonus and increase salary also quite "chaotically" crazy. And I had family to feed on. You know, if it is just me then it will be a different story.

You can print the turbotax forms and mail them in. You need to have them postmarked today.

You hired r-16? ^_^

You hired r-16? ^_^

No r16 is a Machine, a processing unit, while my gang leader is a human, too human  he is the door's Jim Morrison, he is Brad Pitt in Legend of The Fall, the anti system kind of guy. Respect him but frustrated at him at the same time. The best kind of friend and brother, but the worst kind of tyrant. What a character. I live a life of a movie so weird.

Edit: Glad he found his life in business and kind a like settle down, you know family and stuff, if not he can become the next Charles Manson.

Unless I actually want to read the comments, I prefer to use VLC to watch YouTube videos. Less dealing with YouTube's constant UI changes. Except once in a while it just gives me an error instead. I can't figure out why as the video works fine in the browser.

Just read an article about Ariana Grande being diagnosed with PTSD as a result of that bombing that took place at one of her concerts. Why is this a rant? Because the article went on this huge thing about how horrible PTSD is and society needs to do a better job of dealing with it. This makes me angry because thousands of soldiers, myself included, have suffered and/or still suffer from PTSD and society at large barely takes notice or lifts a finger to solve the problem; yet one famous pop star gets PTSD and all of a sudden it's a huge issue that needs to be solved immediately.

For clarification: This is not a rant against Ariana Grande herself. I am sure she really does suffer from PTSD, since going through a terrorist attack like that would certainly cause it. This is a rant against society and its celebrity worship that causes no one to care about anything until it happens to someone famous.

I have a similar reaction to the reaction to the recent black hole image. Doesn't have the same ethical gravitas of course.

I figured this out. I had to update the youtube.luac file. It works now.

Yeah, because nothing possibly could go wrong with dropping 100s of tons of water on a historical building

I didn't realise the fire damage was so bad. It's an 800-year-old building.

Er, what? No one cares about all the matter being daily accreted by black holes until some celebrity black hole gets photographed doing it

It has been posited that sandwiches are definite proof that God exists and is benevolent and kind. I agree with this, but my experiences in the last half-hour have led me to add that printers are definite proof that evil exists and is out there waiting to strike at us when we least expect it.

I knew a guy who claimed the existence of peaches proved the existence of God.

Leave it to Trump to suggest water-bombing the city.
Did he say this? My second thought was to post "I wonder how long it will take Trump to tweet something inappropriate?" But I left it out because I didn't want to sully the thread with the mention of Trump.

Two types of meat, two different dressings, tomato, lettuce, cheese and a fried egg sounds like Heaven alright, but, sure, a peach would have made for a grand dessert.
