NZ keeps getting in top 10 lists to survive the apocalypse. I've got a bow, not sure if it's still intact/where it is/safe to use etc.

I have a bow as well. Never used it and I don't have any arrows for it though.

You should.

Nah OG Commodore.
Bowtie disrespects Kane. Can't have that.

C&C 4 and EA already disrespected Kane way more than that bowtie ever could.

For what it's worth, I always saw myself is more of an Anton Slavik rather than Kane himself.

My favorite cutscene in the whole franchise.

I got really good with NoD online in C&C 3. 80% win rate. 67% overall.

"Weakest faction". Lol.

RA3 wasn't great then C&C4 happened.

Nod were pretty cool

And it turned out they were actually kinda the good guys the whole time. Kane was trying to adapt humanity to Tiberium and prepare for the inevitable Scrin invasion.

I think my games lasted about 4 minutes.

Beelined for paraglider troops, recruited 2 and used them to blow up the opposing powerplant. While they lost power/temp built the tiberium missile and dropped it on the refinery.

Resource denial plus loss of tempo.

Sometimes mux it up and party like it was 1995 bike rush blow up harvester.

The Nod geopolitics were also interesting. If I remember right, they were highly represented in the Global South and the have-nots while the GDI was the defense of the status-quo

Why exactly do you even need a rifle for combat, do you want to shoot the funeral processions that are stopping you from getting to work on time or something?

Yep. And Tiberium finally gave the "have-nots" of the world a resource that would allow them to stand on an equal footing economically with the traditional powers. Once the UN and GDI started trying to control the Tiberium trade, many of those have-not governments started openly supporting Nod, which is how they became so well-equipped.

And that's just when Nod revealed themselves to the world in the mid-1990s. In the C&C universe, Kane and Nod had been around since at least 1800 BC and manipulated global politics from the shadows. They even imply that it was Nod that started both world wars with WW2 being the alternate version we see in the first Red Alert game that takes place from 1946 to 1953 due to Einstein's time travel shenanigans.

In short, yeah Nod is one of the more interesting factions in any work of fiction precisely because they seem like horrible terrorists on the surface, but upon further examination actually turn out to be kinda sympathetic figures.

Game was also 90s which were a bit rah rah team America.

NoD was always the cool faction though.

Further discussion of firearm purchase or use should go in the quarantine thread.

Funeral processions need to become a thing of the past unless it is for some notable individual.
The deceased is a notable individual in the eyes of their friends and loved ones.

I was almost made late to work because I got stuck behind a funeral procession. As I am slowly creeping along I started thinking about how selfish it is for a family to disrupt society just because someone they care about died.

Just set an appointed time for the funeral and have everyone make their own way to it. You know, like how just about every other family event is handled.
I am probably going to surprise some people here, given that I'm not shy about expressing my lack of enthusiasm for religion and its various rituals...

But you are being horribly selfish. Is there any reason why you couldn't have taken another route to work, once you realized you were behind a funeral procession?

Funeral processions have been a thing that society does, both for family and 'notable individuals' for millennia. It's a way of honoring the dead, and there's a practical reason why it goes slow and it's not good manners to cut in and out of it for your own convenience. Some of the people attending will likely be from out of town, and won't know exactly where the cemetery is (yeah, I can hear you thinking, 'so give them the address and their GPS can tell them how to get there').

That's not the point. Funerals and funeral processions are a combination of saying goodbye to the deceased and honoring him/her. You don't have to be a big shot politician or cop or firefighter to deserve being honored. You just have to have people who think enough of you to make the effort.

I'm actually acquainted with quite a few of the "notable individuals" who either were, or still are, considered "pillars of the community."

In my view, very few of them actually deserve that consideration. But even though I might despise a certain ex-mayor and his lying wife, or some other politician, I still wouldn't cut into their funeral procession when they do kick the bucket.
