The first answer. But what does that tell you? It tells me I made 32 posts (or so). So what? Or hang on, I'll check if it does more.

But how does the delay stop bots?

edit: oh I see. Yeah. It gives me all my posts in a thread. That doesn't help me, though. My posts rarely make any sense, even in context of others' posts. Never on their own.

Actually, I'm not sure I'm comfortable reading my past posts. I very occasionally look at a few, and if I don't die from embarrassment, or think they're written by someone else (probably a bot masquerading as me), I'll likely delete them.

My programming assignment fell apart in the last minute and I had to spend 10-12 hours writing code non-stop to make a version that did not entirely suck and get a middling grade. This was on top of not sleeping for 40+ hours. I feel completely disgusted with everything now.

Yeah, I was outraged when I saw a Netherlands supporter with a homemeade replica of the World Cup which read 'Holland'.

Well, Eire and Ireland are exactly the same thing, just in different languages.

Russia was a part of the USSR, Holland is a part of the Netherlands, England is a part of the UK. Eire is just the Irish name of Ireland, America and US are kind of opposite because it's calling a specific part by its generic term, also it's mostly just a shortening.

Fun fact: Russia had only 50% of the population of the USSR at the time of the breakup.

It's very sloppy terminology, imo, to refer to the United States of America (there are other United States... well... the Netherlands were the United Provinces, anyway) as America.

Very similar to referring to the USSR as Russia. But, I'll agree, not precisely the same.

It's fine to call the USA America. Over here, it usually is called that. The Netherlands are called the United Provinces, not states, and Mexico is the United Mexican States, not the United States of Mexico. It won't cause any confusion to call the USA just the US, the United States, or America.

If it did, then by that logic you couldn't gall the UK Britain, because it's merely Great Britain. Little/Lesser/Less Britain also exists right across the Channel, and there's New Britain to boot.

I never do call the UK "Britain". I don't know anyone who does. It's inaccurate for a great many reasons.

But you can't call Nederland "the Netherlands", either, by this sort of pedantry. There is no country called the Netherlands. Though there is one which people do call "the Netherlands". In the same way the USSR was called Russia, with possibly even greater inaccuracy.

It really depends how tolerant or pedantic you feel on the day, I think.

If someone says "Holland", where's the benefit in getting in a hissy fit and screaming "the Netherlands" at them? Especially if you do know what country they mean.

Technically speaking, the Netherlands are a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The four constituent countries are the Netherlands, Curação, Sint Maarten and Aruba. Holland is not a country.

The country as we know it is called the Netherlands, whether that be the European part or all Dutch territory combined.
