Random Rants XLVII: I don't like food anymore!

Yeah. Sounds like stewed tea to me. Not nice. I wouldn't leave it to macerate for more than 1/2 hour.

I take that back. After half an hour, the spoon is starting to do press-ups. After several hours, the tea leaves themselves have stood up and left.

That sounds positively revolting. The idea is to have delicate tea, not one so strong you can stand the spoon up in it!

Still, I went right off tea about a year ago.

Gentlemen, with all respect, I tell you that I will listen to you when it comes to hot tea, but don't tell an American how to do sweet iced tea. :)

Click this link <<<RIGHT HERE CLICK ME>>> and you'll see there are even dedicated jars made for this. We know what we're doing.

That just means you've institutionalised the idea, not that it's a good one. :)

OK, VRWCAgent, I'll admit my ignorance on macerating tea.

Nevertheless, suggesting that Americans know what they're doing and in support presenting images of devices used to do this, stretches my credibility a long way. I mean, you might. But this isn't the way to convince me.

Let me think of a good parallel.

Once, when I was at school, I had a swig from a can of Liptonice (iced tea), simply because it was such a bizarre concept, I felt I ought to try it at least once. That swig was the last one I ever intend to have of any iced tea.

From a can? Son, no. Just... no. It was just pointed out to me in chat that you fine folks across the pond just don't get enough sun to really have the opportunity to properly brew sun tea. Plus the fact that I know you don't get the temperatures really needed. It needs to be sunny and at least (imho) 80-85 degrees out before you even consider brewing it. (that's 27~ to 29~ Celcius for the barbarians among us)

EDIT: @Borachio. Don't even get me started on traffic. You people have no room to talk. We're starting to be invaded with your horrid sense of what constitutes good road construction and it's evil. EVIL! Case in point, these abominations are appearing with more regularity now.

Seriously. Roundabouts? WTH man, WTH!

You don't have roundabouts across the pond? :)

They're very sensible, in that they're easy to navigate (always give way to traffic from the right [probably left over there]), take up very little space and can even be cultivated to have a nice patch of greenery on them too.

As an aside, your grass looks odd. Maybe it's had too much sun!

Roundabouts weren't very common in the US but are recently catching on. Someone figured out that they help traffic move faster than stop lights in some situations so new intersections are getting them.

Yep, roundabouts are a great idea and opposing them is like opposing the metric system: it's only done because of pure stubborness

No, it's stupid. MAYBE for busy intersections where traffic is slow anyway, but the one I specifically mentioned replaced a modified diamond interchange where three highways (and therefore high speed traffic) intersected in the boonies in Kansas.

I'm not going to bother starting a thread because I can already predict how well it will go, but any society that allows this to happen is certainly worthy of a rant.

You say allow as though the parents stood by, allowed the child to grab the gun, lock and load, and blow away his sister, nodding approvingly at his command of the firearm.

They're very VERY rare and usually (at least the one in the state I live in) confined to rural areas and usually one lane.

According to the article, "My First Rifle" was simply standing in the corner and his parents had failed to remove all the ammunition. It's undoubtedly a tragedy, but it's one that was completely unnecessary in almost every way.

Why then, you need more of them. They're hilarious in every way. And can be combined with traffic lights at peak times.

And some roundabouts you can drive straight through.

Other roundabouts are really two roundabouts bang next to each other. And one roundabout I know of is a large roundabout (that you can go either way round) with six small roundabouts round the edge of it.

They're quite an efficient way of managing traffic flows, though (in many circumstances). So I expect you'll see more of them in the future.

So you mean that the tea… *pulls glasses off* will want to leave.
American iced tea good
Roundabouts good

That's my part played for trans-Atlantic relations.
Two legs bad, four legs good!

Just make sure it's sealed and sterile, otherwise you'll end up feeling like me just now. I'm just lucky I don't have classes right now. Been going to the bathroom for the past 2 hours.
