*ugh* that really sounds terrible :/.
Own rant:
*grmpf*
I got 2 students for supervision in an university course (end of the second week now).
Was not really my decision, the Prof decided I have to.
So I had to make up a project.
Since it was not clear what the student's exact abilities are (mixed pool), I set up a project, which they could do even without any specific abilities (nearly), and some time buffer for me, to prepare some of the stuff, in case there's really nothing available.
So good, so fine.
Got 1 student, who had all necessary abilities. She said she can do more. Okay, my colleague had another project, which he wanted to have done. Sounded good. The second student also opted in into this more difficult task.
Turns out the second one doesn't have a clue about anything.
If I ask you if you can program, and you cannot really do that, then don't say you can, and don't opt into a project, which requires more programming, if you have a project which barely requires any programming

.
End result:
Instead of 1 project to supervise I have now 2. Both of them I don't want. Double time supervising, since they are totally different.
The second project I actually first had to read into, so wasted time. Not considering that I had to make up the plan for something, about which I don't really have any knowledge.
The second student has now 5 weeks instead of 7 weeks to do the project.
And I have to go on a Saturday to work, to prepare some stuff, so that he can do something on Monday. No, wasting the Monday is not an option, they have to give a presentation EVERY Friday. ****, about what?
(and this is at least the second round of this course, so if the Prof. wanted he could have changed that in the last round; so he obviously doesn't; WHY?!?)
Why the hell did he not just say nothing at the beginning? That was perfectly set up (okay, not really, but at least there was a plan), WHY!?!
Great, Saturday in the lab. How good that I didn't have a plan for tomorrow (at least not for noon/afternoon).
