Random Rants XVIII: It's cold as hell!

What pisses me off is that more and more pro-WMG laws will get enacted and enforced no matter what we do.

Damn capitalism. [pissed]

My new desk lamp has a huge base. I wanted one with a desk clamp, but there were no good ones with clamps. I had to spend the last hour machining a piece to connect my old lamp's base to the new one's body. Extremely annoying after you come back from work with a smashed finger.

I never thought the day would come when I'm actually wishing for some work. Hours to go till I can go home and absolutely nothing to do.

Thats often my every weekend. Im just so tired after work that I dont feel like getting up and doing something, but I still want to do something.

I reason:

Politics = Cancer = Conservatism, Cancer = Humanity = Cancer. Also, Humans taste like chicken. Therefore, Conservative Politicians taste like chicken.

I thought it had been well established that humans don't taste like chicken, but like pork.

(Well, according to some cannibals man taste like pork and women taste more like roast beef, at least of cooked properly. It seems humans are also unable to smell human flesh, so it is probably more a matter of texture.)

Pork fits with politicians better though, so I'm sticking with politicians taste like pork/like the taste of pork(barrel spending).

Having extensively read on the subject, I recently conceived of the idea of writing a CFC history article on the causes of the First World War, only to find I had been beaten to the punch by a self-attested verbose poster by some five years and change. His take on the matter is verbose, and it covers many bases, but it has some deficits.

The first point, I do not believe that many posters on CFC (OT or WH) have actually read it, considering some of the relevant information that is frequently ignored by many here who hold a substantive opinion on the matter. This is a shame, because, despite being nearly as random a narrative - though much better organized - as one I might craft, the author did a damned good job of tying together relevant threads and eliminating certain myths that seem to persist among the denizens of CFC.

The second point is that the discussion is kinda...dumbed down. It reads like it was written for a middle-schooler with no knowledge of European history from a standing start. This might be attributed to the fact that it was written in days when CFC was young and possibly more populated by people who didn't give a damn. (It might not have even changed significantly from that.) But in so doing, it omits quite a few relevant facts, and in wiping out a few myths fosters new ones. So, while an improvement on the current situation as I perceive it - which admittedly may be a poor generalization - it isn't enough, by my lights.

So there's already a long, fairly involved, and good quality history article on the subject. Sufficient rationale for not writing a long, fairly involved, and I would hope good quality history article on the same one. Plus, let's face it, I'm just thinking about this because I want a kind of release from other stuff I'm writing. Doing that would probably get a few (I hope) members of the community here a bit pissed at me.

But still there's the whole sense of maaaaaaaan associated with the whole thing. You know what I mean? It's kinda dejecting. And what makes it worse is that this is one of those minor projects that, unlike my other brief crusades like the grand effort to learn more about the history of the modern Middle East, or the glorious scheme to be better at basketball than just a decent pickup player, or the One That I Had But Got Away Anyway, it'll probably stick with me because I'm specializing in that period. (Well, that last one sticks too. Bad.)

So, yeah. Not really a big deal, but at five in the morning I had thoughts on it. In a postcountless thread. Shoot me.

So we've been struggling for 3 months to make good on the marketing promise of a 1 November deadline. It seemed a real long-shot to make it, but we looked about to pull it off. Last Friday we had some beers to celebrate the fact we only needed about 60 man-hours, spread over 3 guys, to get the job done. Cheers all around. This morning though we get called into a meeting. Since marketing got a whiff of our progress they decided to drop an extended requirements bomb in our planning.

If I stop posting here for a while and you find an article in Reuter's Odly Enough about a Dutch Project Manager being killed by anal insertion of a fruit machine; Game Designer arrested, you can guess what happened.

Meh, I wouldn't mind reading different articles on the same topic. In history it's always good to read as many perspectives and stories as possible to easier be able to get an understanding of that period. I say you go for it.

Otherwise, you could always post it on another forum ;)

Um, okay yeah. On a three lane road, what is the middle lane used for? YEAH, THAT'S FRAKKING RIGHT! LEFT TURNS! SO USE THE BLOODY THING IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN!! [pissed]

kthxbai, jackoff (you know who you are, though I seriously doubt you post here)

It's only 5.20 and it is already dark.

I won the 'first to fail' competition for all the new computers installed at work over the last two weeks. :(

My shiny new computer worked fine all last week, and this morning it wouldn't even boot up. IT is working on it (showed up more than an hour after I called) but in the mean time, I've had to get software installed on another computer - away from my phone and opposite the coffee pots (and lots of people traffic) - so I have somewhere to work until my computer gets fixed.

I lost 2 friends today. Not lost them, i just realised who are my friends and who are not in a certain group of people. When you feel like :):):):) and because of some "friends" you end up feeling worse then those are not friends. Those that can make you feel better are priceless tho. :)

New oven and microwave were delivered at 10am today. Oven worked out fine, we adjusted the legs and leveled it out. Microwave though, man. Nonstandard mount on it (its an over the range microwave oven) which meant that me and my dad spent 3 hours making a bracket which we could use to mount it. Why is it so difficult to make a symmetrical mount for a microwave?

That and I only got 4 hours of sleep again, except this time I woke up on my own for some reason.

:mad::mad::mad:

I'm going to become a year behind because of one stupid class holding up a ton of classes, and then my god damned pos school not offering it for 2 straight semesters. Real fair, douchebagels. Besides that, I can't take another class because it conflicts with every single physics class that is a requirement to take with said class. Surely geniuses decided on the schedules for this school. I wanted an AAS before I left this school so I wouldn't have to worry about another school not taking credits but I just can't deal with this crap.

So I have my computer back, but now I get to redo everything I did last week when I first got the new computer - downloading & installing programs I need, adjusting all my settings, etc. And I get to do more this time around (relocating all my backed-up files) because this time the back-up of my old computer wasn't copied onto the new(est) one. *sigh*
