I've only ventured outside the hostel for about half an hour total, but I guess I've still got to find my way back to Gara de Nord (and taxis aren't an option, given they are all scams), so I guess I can remain hopeful I'll get the full experience.
There was RAIN ??? There's been a drought for about a month now with really high temperatures. I hope it will rain here too.

In Sinaia, at least. More like a tropical thunderstorm actually. Had to take shelter for the better part of sn hour.
A 100 minute late train is normal.
A 180 minute late train on arrival, is early.
Also (unrelated) - a train leaving unannounced half and hour BEFORE it should is also normal.
Don't you just hate communism ?

I'm just wondering when I should bother to turn up to my midday train out today. 2pm should allow enough time.

If the train station is in walking distance you should walk there. It's good that you are avoiding taxis.

One of the pillars of communism is waiting in line. Waiting in line to buy something, waiting in line to get to the emergency room, waiting in line to pay your bills, or just plain waiting for the train to come.
That being said you should go to the station on time and pray it will leave soon. If the train is coming from another city toward bucharest then it'll prolly be late. If it will start from the city then it might not be late.
You can find out how much a train will be late when you are at the station by asking one of the 100+ completley oblivious station employees in one of the 50 booths that the north train station (gara de nord) has.

Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. It seems wrong posting this in the rants thread. It's much nicer.

The train did actually leave on time, although it wasn't an entirely pleasant experience, given it was so hot today, and it was an old stuffy CFR train, but it arrived here an hour late.

Sinaia was really nice (excepting the storm), although a tad touristy (not as bad as Bran). The castle is as good as any other in Europe. Didn't have time to go up the mountain(s), unfortunately.
 
Cicadas outside your window are surprisingly loud.

Geez, this is one complex game! I'm really getting this "can't teach an old dog new tricks" while trying to run these tutorials and read the manual and strategy guide. :(

Maybe I should have stuck to X-Com and Civ...
 
The AI does most of the work for you, don't worry.

My brain felt like mush after the tutorials, but actually playing a game, instead of in a vacuum, makes a whole bunch more sense.

It's learning the nuances that takes the longest.
 
Someone really needs to end all movies that fall under the same genre as "Scary Movie." They are all horrible, and seeing the ads for the movie "Vampires Suck," makes me want to jump out a 2nd story window and get my hands on some medicinal pain-killers. I'm serious people, stop it. It's not funny anymore, in fact it was almost never funny.

And more Vicky rants. It's supposed to be saving some autosaves for me. I cannot find them anywhere, the "load" option that is per the manual supposed to exist in the upper left of my screen after clicking on single player doesn't have them, can't find them anywhere on my hard drive (dumb arse game doesn't use "my games" folder...not playing nice with new windows standards). GAH! Screw it, I'm going to bed.

Huh. They should be up at the top of the save load list up there. What interval do you have the autosaves set to save at? Maybe you just haven't played enough in a given game to trip an autosave point.

Also, "My Games" is broken, not the game. :p
 
So the one time I actually need my mobile, there is no service in the entire city. Me and my cousin, who I'm travelling with, got separated around a blind corner on either side of a very angry and large dog. I think he went on to do a hike, but I dunno.
