Cisgender is an extremely pretentious term. I wish that anyone I hear say that in my presence immediately undergo face-to-face contact with an overcooked pastry.
If I've understood it correctly, "cisgender" is better than "straight" because its very existence is an acknowledgement to the struggle that transgender-people face.
TraitorFish once used it against a certain poster to suggest that he really couldn't relate to transgender-people's plight because he himself was cisgender. When used in the right context (ie a heated discussion as opposed to everyday talk), it's not pretentious at all.
edit - hmm, never posted this on another thread apparently, know that I meant to when someone else in an OP and like the first response to the OP brought up cringe-worthy statements or something. Beat you to it by several weeks. But yes, this is the type of thing where anyone who uses the term with a straight face goes into a very small and selective pool of "immediately discredited in any debate, ever."
