Ooooh ooooh ooooh! I'm super excited!

I just got a call from my boss, she's told me someone's leaving suddenly and there's a huge panic, and she wants me to take his position, because she feels I'd be a natural fit. I totally could, this is one of those guys who I've worked with for years and he's been very dependent on me, I know most of what he does because I've pretty much built everything, and he literally comes to me every week to help him, so I feel I could definitely step in pretty quickly and easily. And I'd be taking a big step up, and I'd have a lot more visibility, and I might even get maybe a "Senior" to go with my VP title :) Oh but I'd probably have more meetings, I'd become responsible for fraud forecasting for my whole company. I love my boss, she's always been looking out for me! :)

Good for you. I hope they included more money in the deal. :)

Congratulations MaryKB. Represent us well. The OT reputation for excellence is on the line! don't forget to ask for a written job description or other delineation of expectations.

Wherever I've worked, the higher you get, the less likely that anything written or concrete will exist. Where politics seems to override everything else.

Thank you for the congratulations!

I just got rush-added to a bunch of meetings, lol. I guess word's spread I'm accepting, and I've already been started on my transition, which I guess really is a good sign it's going to be easy. Oh dear, of course this has to happen when I'm about to take three weeks off! :)

And I'll probably have to make a "Rant" post when I get my formal offer, lol.

That's a good thing about the job. :)

Rave: My new computer mouse is very comfortable and fits my hand better than the old one. It didn't cost very much either.

Sometimes the salesclerks at Staples look at me funny when I tell them I want to know how comfortable the mouse is going to be before I buy it - I spend many hours a day using a mouse, and comfort is critical.

Some of them seem to think that it doesn't matter, but it does for users who have issues with arthritis, among other problems.

Pro-tip, they won't look at you funny if you couch your concern in terms of "ERGONOMICS" rather than "comfort."

This girl I just met thinks I am confident because I told her I'm a "badass programmer". Just clarified that "badass" doesn't necessarily mean "good". But I guess I'll continue pretending I am confident

When I first read what you called yourself, my first thought was you're using badass as an adjective describing your programming skill, so my impression was that you're confident. Only because of your post do I now know you mean two nouns, like you're a badass and a programmer.

I believe it's gentleman and a scholar. But then what the heck do I know
