Went to pickup some take-out food last night and a younger woman hit on me. Since it's been a few decades since that happened, either I've forgotten how to recognize a hit or the woman had just escaped the nut house. But i'll take whatever compliments I can at my age.

I figure late 40's. I was pretty flabbergasted since I can't remember that last time it happened.
I have never really worn my wedding ring. I can't play golf with it on and I was always worried that I would lose it if I took it off so much. I told my wife to get me a real cheep one since that was a major concern. I think we paid 50 bucks for it back then. We have been happily married for so long that my wife was never concerned about things like that.

I feel men would do better if you try to be charming instead of trying to "pick up." Instead of having a goal of a date in mind, have your objective rather be to make her feel good about herself, with no expectation.

You can tell when a guy just wants to get into your pants, and not only is it a huge turnoff, but it can even feel quite scary. However, being on the receiving end of a gentleman's charms feels absolutely incredible.

@Phrossack you are an attractive and interesting young man, but I think the biggest thing working against you is your nihilistic view of yourself, I feel (sadly) you're your own worst enemy there

It's kind of like I think, you know how you can tell when someone is just trying to sell you something? Even if you really want it or need it, you're put off and you get resistant because you just instinctively don't want to be "sold to," if I'm making sense?

I think it's a similar concept? A guy who is trying to pick you up gives out these weird vibes that makes you want to get away from him as quickly as possible.

If you weren't wearing a ring and she's in her late 40s, she likely was trying to hit on you, I wouldn't at all be surprised (if you'd said 20s I wouldn't have believed it) You're not looking for dates, so you'll create a more relaxed air like you said ... but she doesn't know you're married. And your career status likely helps with your maturity and confidence levels.
