I figured out a trick I saw on Penn & Teller that had me flummoxed. :smug:

The magician had Allison sign a piece of paper, then tore it in two, handing one piece back to Allison. Then she put the other piece in her time machine and sent it into the past. Unlocking the time machine, she removed an ice cube and used an ice pick and mallet to chip out a piece of paper that Allison confirmed was the missing half. :dubious:

Spoiler The secret :
IMHO, the magician took out A piece of paper. Tthen she did the ol' switcheroo to substitute in the missing half. :p

C'mon Zkrib...ya think? But to really count as "figuring it out" you have to identify when and how the switch took place.

By the way...

Spoiler :
It's also possible that the ice cube had a hole drilled in it so the rolled up piece of paper could be shoved into the hole as the cube was removed from the "time machine." Evidence of the tunnel is destroyed by the icepick and mallet and voila.

We had nice front row seats at a John McCutcheon concert this afternoon in Santa Fe. It was a wonderful concert.

I have a roast in the crock pot being cooked into oblivion for shredded beef sandwiches. Due to a previous complication involving inability to turn down a deal and a ten pound bag of potatoes I have all these potatoes around, so I chopped up five of them and threw the chunks in on top of the meat a few hours ago. Awesome snack!
:drools:

A friend is starting a D&D campaign set in Ravnica (setting from Magic:The Gathering, think of it as a fantasy Coruscant). My character is a Minotaur Zealot in the service of the Boros Legion. I think my character background turned out pretty well so I thought I would post it. I definitely borrowed some elements of the Ankh-Morpork/City Watch novels.

Hopefully since I have some familiarity with this setting my character background will help, as opposed to what usually happens. The DM tells us 'hey, make sure to give me a character background' which I summarily do. In it I go into detail about his society, organization membership, and the land he comes from - all with plenty of plothooks- which never comes up against because it was 'too detailed' for the DM and it wasn't vague enough to slot into his plans.

Rave: Tis is a rave.

aimee's raving…
Is that for the now devoured potatoes, or the still pending shredded beef sandwiches?
Come on, we both know that the answer to that is ‘¿Por qué no los dos?’

The last time I ran a campaign and asked for character backgrounds, I told everyone that it was to help them get into their character and not introduce inconsistencies and anachronisms... and btw, I might decide to use some detail at some point in the campaign. I wanted to know what the characters wanted out of life beyond the standard wealth/power/enlightenment. Sometimes it's the small details that can spark a story idea that can develop into a side quest, or even an eventual main quest.

...but on the bright side, I got a free copy of The Outer Worlds with the new CPU.

Weather dropped from the upper 90's back to the 70's so that is awesome. New apartment is internal-facing so we don't get much sunlight but it's much cooler in here than my last place so I can have the windows open more often. We also cleared out more junk yesterday and the bed risers finally showed up so we were able to hide more stuff under the bed. The place is almost livable now and I can get to the desk finally. Today I'm going to clear the final corner out and hopefully set up the desk so it's usable (right now it's just got junk on it).

I'm glad you are happier with your place now! I hope you continue making it feel like home :)

PS - if you PM me your address, I'll send you a housewarming gift.

I'm also enjoying cooler weather, I feel much more comfortable with my fall style than my summer one. I spent a lot of time yesterday cleaning out my wardrobe; I packed up three large boxes of clothes still in great condition I'm likely never going to wear again (some I've literally only worn once, and a few still had tags on them) I have a friend who is currently transitioning gender (MTF) and she says her LGBTQ+ outreach center always needs new clothes, so I'm going to take them there, and hopefully either someone transitioning who wears my size, or maybe a lesbian young woman, will be able to make use of them.

I had a major update I needed to complete today for my 2020 fraud planning, I have a meeting about it in just under two hours. I just got it finished, and now I can take a bit of a break! :)

Whew, I think I worked more hours today than I used to in a week lol! I can't wait until this planning is over and I can go back to normal business.

My 2020 fraud planning was easy. I'll just be continuing all the same frauds I've already been committing. :mischief:

Well in 2020 since I will be retiring, I expect all questionable activities to lessen.
