To be honest in Poland we never had trick-or-treating (not when I was a kid) still I don't think that many people practice it (if any) - I know not a single person who does. But as a kid it was great experience to see fully lit cemetery ... :) They always look like this :

Such a scene would be destroyed immediately here. The cemetery next to my house has more graffiti and fast food garbage than flowers or decorations.

In the last apartment I lived in, Friday nights were always fun because all the drunks would stagger home from the nearby bars. Once two of three of them got into a fight in the parking lot to my building. I was going to call the police but they left on their own.

Funny you should say "tie" it together ;)

I do like how I somehow captured that look of fear, lol!
I haven't seen creativity like this with plush/toy characters since the Fuzzy Knights webcomic was in its heyday (two storylines come to mind; there was one about Katchooloo and another about how Hamaestra killed Santa). :)

Well done.

On the topic of Halloween candy... my take on it is that the parents want their kids to have as normal a Halloween experience as possible, even to the extent of providing the candy themselves for other people to give out. That way the kids will think the neighbors are nice people who took their particular situation into account. I suspect the parents are hoping this will raise awareness and some of the neighbors will do this on their own next year.

Hopefully none of the neighbors tell the kids that it was really the parents who bought the candy.

My business partner and his wife seemed like they were calling just to sing happy birthday over the phone, but they were actually checking to see if I was home. Then they stopped and dropped off a really nice card and a gift card so I can take my gf out to dinner on her day off tomorrow. I always try to downplay giving me gifts, but they are just such sweet hearted people...

I somehow misinterpreted it as thinking it was his girlfriend's birthday. :crazyeye:

I was guessing. But Tim having his birthday on Halloween does seem weirdly appropriate...

I feel really stupid because I read that post and did not make the mental leap to "It's Tim's birthday"
lmao me too

Happy Birthday. I'll rob a bank today in your honour.

Thanks everybody! I was sitting in the DMV looking in on my phone and you made the time much more bearable.

Mary, you have restored my views on discouraging gifts!

You're going to rob her piggy bank?

It totally could be a (Ms.) Piggy bank, if Mary has some random Muppet dolls lying around…

Erm… I'm not even celebrating this Halloween thing. Top that.

Don't you like Danny DeVito?

I just think that male, stripper, and cop might be the worst fit together trio of words available.
