But that thing doesn't even have an @ key. What if I want to surf the internet on that machine? Am I able to plug in a proper keyboard, or am I stuck with that silly-looking keypad?
Couldn't surf the internet from that thing. The Internet was 15 years away when that little item was released.

And at best at the time, you would have a 300 baud acoustical modem like this:

Gawd you guys. My first computer was a Commodore 64. I didn't get a PC until I was 20, and the internet was unheard of back then. :p
That was the computer I got when I was 20. I'm not that crumbly yet. :p

A commodore lass, eh!?? :mischief:

I was a Spectrum person - a friend had the ZX81, but we went posh and had the Spectrum 48K the year it came out. Wikipedia tells me that was 1982.

A child of the 70s, eh? :)

I don't remember what my first computer was. Specifically, that is. I know it had Windows 95 but this was in 2000 or 2001. :dunno:

You're not that much older than me, but I'd class you as a child of the 80s. :)

Ha ha, visited my old workplace and it's total fornicating chaos over there because two out of four of the people who were as experienced as me have also quit.
This would be in the raves thread if my other old colleagues weren't so stressed.
The bosses will probably lose more money than if they had just given us a raise and/or hired more people.
Fools !

My first computer was an Amiga 500. It had no tower (I used an external disk drive), and no way to go online.

I remember a friend asking me in bafflement, "But how do you save anything?".

I told her it was like a VCR: I saved stuff on disks. Lots and lots of disks.

I still have most of that stuff, although for some reason the movers stole the monitor. I've got the computer itself, so if I had the rest of it, I could play Zany Golf (I really miss that game).

Yep. I had the disk drive that was slow as molasses, and the monitor and everything. Great for games and fiddling around with programming, but not much else. A couple of years later I bought the PC for school and I had an old daisywheel printer to do my reports on. That thing was loud, and slow. I don't miss those days.

And yes, Arakhor, I am also a child of the 70's. :p

How is it that my weather thingy on my smarphone tells me almost every day that there's a 50+ probability that it will rain, but it hasn't rained here in weeks ?

Please, Arakhor, Lemon's over 40 35 so let's not get into such dangerous territory.

It's just probability, not certainty.

I'm over 35 myself, you know. ;)
