Hey, I'm watching anime, dangit. I cannot do everything at once.

Killing an animal for the pleasure of eating its meat is legal.
Having Sex with animals is not legal in most parts of the world.
Thereby it follows: Rape is worse than murder.

#Logic

your post is dum dum. I'm in accordance with the first two paragraphs. the next one however does not follow, logically. I think if we examine it honestly the reason why mass murder of animals is condoned is because we like to look away. the reason why sex with animals is illegal is because of societal stigmata, not because of any proper, pragmatic reason.

things are not outlawed on the basis of them being "bad". because if that was the case, being a horsehockey parent or cheating on your husband/wife would be outlawed. we consider some things illegal because they hurt or destabilize "society", the ruling order, our understanding of togetherness, or because they violate the principles that we believe in. we outlaw things for a whole plethora of reasons, some nonsensical and some proper.

anyway, I definitely think rape can be worse than murder. especially in humans. I think, for example, abusing a child that is in a position of trust towards you is a much worse act than killing off a really, really old millionare for the money. I feel like I could construct millions of different, viable cases where rape appears worse than murder.

My post was mostly satire of people who would make silly arguments and then declare that it's "only logical". There are "mistakes" in the first two sentences as well - you cannot "murder" an animal in the first place as it's defined for humans only, and for most animals, being raped by a human probably doesn't have the same implications as rape of a human, so the comparison is void anyway.

But..

... I think _if_ we wanted to compare the two, then we have to compare similar situations. Would it be worse to rape a child that relies on you, or would it be worse to murder it? In the end we'd probably arrive at the conclusion that the two can't really be compared because "being dead" is ultimately not something that a person experiences.

Many variants of the name can indeed be spelt without that letter cluster.

Yes, East Asian.

 okay, that's complicated. None would come to my mind right now, but I'm also not interested in Eastern Asian women.

I don't think I've ever seen a green eyed Turk, but I've seen a few blue eyed ones.

In this case it comes due to Georgian grand parents :), therefore the unusual colour.

Just to complicate matters, in the UK, we use Asian generally to mean people from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh.

That's basically why I asked ^^.

Yye-es, but in English the meaning of the word ‘Asian’ tends to vary wildly.
Also, you're treating two separate replies as if they were just the one, even if they were made on the same topic.
Sorry for not doing a better job of editing.

I don't know of any american that uses "asian" as anything but a shortened form of "far-east-asian". All other asians are Indians, Middle Easterners/Arabs, or SEAsians.
What do Americans have to do with my post?

Asia includes all non-European countries on that continent. Further breakdowns include the Middle East, India, and Far East. If any more specific designations are needed, the countries' names suffice.

I spent much of yesterday catching up on 6 weeks of missed activity on one of my gaming forums (missed a huge chunk of time due to NaNoWriMo), and fighting with my computer (Firefox doesn't like it if I have both Firefox and Opera open at the same time).

That's the theory, but not the practice.
Therefore it's necessary to clarify what is meant.

So if Afghanistan isn't part of Asia, what continent is it part of, then?

Unless someone is completely unfamiliar with a basic world map, I don't see what "clarification" is needed.

Rape is worse than murder.
If we consider intent, that is true. There are no legal defenses or mitigating factors for intercourse without consent, as opposed to ending someone's life.

In that case I'll from now on refer to you as “American“, because geography tells me that Canada is a part of America.
I am pretty sure my geography is right on that.
Nope.

Canada is part of North America. We are not part of "America."

How hard is it to grasp that Afghanistan is a country that is part of the continent of Asia? Similarly, Canada is a country that is part of the continent of North America.
