You know, I'm not sure who we owe for the creative decision of pairing Free Bird with ultra-violence ... but we owe them something.

I have to alert you that, by calculations most diabolical, 63 posts from this will be the end of days.
So how did that go?

I have a blanket with the periodic table on it.

There seems to be more interest in this than I'd have thought. Back in the first year of the pandemic, the Chief Medical Officer of my province would give daily updates about caseloads, deaths, etc. and one day she wore a dress that had the periodic table on it.

Suddenly she was inundated with requests of "Where did you get that dress? I'd like to buy one!"

Turns out she'd bought it from a small independent dressmaking place in BC... that had just shut down due to covid shutting down all the little shops. So after being plied with many requests for The Dress, the owner went back into the dressmaking business, but farmed out the various tasks to the employees, who did the work at home.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist after you made a dad joke ;) )

I has a bemusement.

I ignored FB for many years, until a couple of years ago when the political situation in Alberta made me search out more places to air my views than are allowed on the CBC news site (which has few articles open for comment anymore).

So my MLA's FB page has become part of the daily internet routine. Not because I like her, but because I loathe, detest, and despise her and everything she and that sociopathic political party stands for. I had the pleasure of telling off her media spokeswoman yesterday when she tried to spin the usual BS that the only people who hate the new curriculum are the teachers' union members who have some nasty "political agenda." I do not and never have belonged to a union, and it's been decades since I taught anything formally. Education just happens to be something I've always been passionate about, and this gang of thugs that pretends to be a government is determined to wreck everything here.

Then the implosion of Big Fish Games began. They took what worked and completely messed it up to the point that some people are talking about class-action lawsuits. I just posted a comment there, and someone answered. I answered him. A couple of days later I checked back and a whole lot of angry people are posting.

I've also posted some on the Fighting Fantasy FB page, reminding the people in the UK that there are FF fans in North America as well (this year is the 40th anniversary of that gamebook series' debut and all sorts of goodies and events are planned... if you live in the UK. The rest of us don't matter, apparently).

So what's bemusing?

I am now the proud bearer of a Top Fan badge for all three sites. I'm beyond angry and fed up with two of them and am in no way a "fan." I've just had a lot to say lately. I'm miffed at the third not because I no longer like FF - I still love it - but because of the attitudes of the UK writers and artists toward North American and other non-UK fans.

It's the kind of train wreck that you just have to laugh about, because it's so absurd.

If you google 'Recursion' it will act like you spelled it wrong. Then when you click on the link it shows you the same page.

As far as “turn-key” operations go, nuclear missile operator has to be the most consequential.

Due to working on some new civ graphics, I played a little of CivIII again. The Sengoku scenario.
And no, @r16 , I still had to remove the sudden obliteration of all of a clan's towns when their leader unit dies ;)

The Hojo have a nice starting position, and curiously I even got a settler from a goody-hut.

Sengoku scenario is such a mix of super fun and super tedious. I think next time I play it I'll just mod away all the assassins and stuff.

It's pretty hard to pull off a Diplo victory when there's that many civs around and they're all trying to kill each other and you all the time

Actually not, choxie schmoxie. All you have to do is start at either end (as Date or, if you like to cheat, as Otomo in Shikoku) and the AI won't have met you at all so will vote against whichever other people they do know and are at war with.

so , this is some random thread for random stuff ? No , am not depressed or anything . Found some blog which has led me to download 1 to 1500 or so pictures and stuff , with side excursions and the like . Doesn't have time for Civ lll , which might also mean some burnout issues of intense playing . (Impressed by some CFC thread ı was going with the Huns to bring down both of the Romes and stuff) . . No need to rant about those like Weinstein even .
