Interesting. Could it be a virus rather than a form of mass hysteria? I have often wondered, for example, could my conservatism be due to a remnant of Neanderthal DNA? Nurture versus nature? Then these incomprehensible (to me) sexual identities. If evolutionary biology is true, then mutations that do not reproduce are a dead end. So, what is driving that. I, along with God, am perfectly willing for people to live out their lives in the manner they choose. But what is the driving factor that causes the whales to beach themselves? It is a mystery.
I think it is a shame that we can't just talk about these things without people getting upset. Many of the barbs headed my way contain nuggets of truth that it is profitable for me to hear. But....
....here is a thing. I am repulsed by things that I see. I just can't bear it. I have to turn my head away. Conversely, liberals seem to be able to look at anything but go nuts at the words they might hear. What is the cause of this? Many conservatives think that liberals are bullies based on their intense need to prohibit speech that they find offensive. I think that maybe it's not so much bullying as it is an expression of legitimate pain and suffering.
I'll not go so far as some and claim that liberals and conservatives are actually a divergence in the species. But I do think that there is something more that skin deep in play that we don't fully fathom.
