Rat 41 CCM - AW a first attempt

I managed two turns today with the last one going the fastest at about 4 hours. At least I got back into the swing of it. The first few hours were mostly staring at the screen.

I hope you do not spend too much time with improving our home land? I would just leave that alone and bother only about the other continent. But I guess even that takes a long long time with the size of the map.

Two turns in a day is good. By the end of my round I was thinking in terms not of turns per session but of sessions per turn.

The first turn just seems to never get over for me. The second is smooth and then you are in the groove and move along reasonably.

I did not spend time improving things on the mainland, other than working on some rails for the airfields. Just plugging away there not a big effort. Much of the time in the second turn was spend going through towns looking for units that may be able to fight.

You know you run out the 5/5 and 4/4 and then 4/5 and then start looking for anything that could work. All the units have 7 or 8 defense so you do not get many clean kills and units have to heal.

After needing so much time to find the handle, the rest of the set should be faster. I have had a lot of leaders, at least 10. It is just a lot of game to get your arms around. I would hate to be someone trying to take a turn that has never been in a massive game. I was nearly lost with all the games I have played.

You get like a deer in headlights and finally you start to see what needs to be done. :D

Excellent--where was their settler?

this has turned into a marathon.

Are there actually still some nations left on small islands? or is it simply the remainder of the continent.

Somehow I doubt I will be seeing this game again ;)

Nubia is definitely on a small island, and India probably is.

btw, can anyone post the units that you added (I mean those folders) e.g. Italian infantry or riflemen so that everyone has them.

I lost my modifications when porting over to a new desktop with windows 7.

I think it was to our east and was killed by Germans. It is only a guess. I did not intend to take the town only to kill a few units in and around, but it fell. In my games when I do not want to eliminate them I like to bust up the towns, so they cannot send out units.

I figured they had 4, but they did not. I cannot remember if they had even three. There were German units next to the town and it looked like Babylon attacked a German unit in our lands.

Yes there are two islands it seems. The Nubian and one other next to the Inca. Not sure whose.

All you need to do is copy a folder of Indian or British rifleman and infantry and named then Italian Riflemen and Italian Infantry. Then in each rename the existing ini to Italian from whatever it was such as Indian Riflemen.ini to Italian Riflemen.ini.

There are some other ones missing, but I forget what they were. We ran into them some time ago, maybe even in the last game.

Edit looking at my folder I do not see anything changed other the the two. It was created 11/2/2010.

Going to put up an update log after some tv with the boss lady. I have 5 turns in now.

We had already seen the episode, so here is the status.

PRE:
Well this is always the hardest part. Figuring out what is going on and where am I. I spot Rio with little defense, so I ship a handful of tanks their way for general purposes.

No way to know who is at war with whom, so in the dark there. Looks like we have 10 left to kill per CAII. F8 agrees. Assur and Canton are rioting, but are fixed.

58 units in our lands.

Stop worker builds over 5 turns. Sorry not going to rush workers. When this round is done, not going to make more. I would rather take a few more turns than push around the 600 workers and adding more to the pile.

Turns will be a lot easier as we stop making workers and the number of towns left shrinks along with the units to kill. Next guy wants to make more have at it. I doubt it will get back to me again anyway.

Utica I stop the settler. We have a stack now and are at 59% of the land, so not going to be needing a lot more. If we do need them why ship them, grow them in the new land.

Bursa was starving so I put a pop on a irrigated tile.

Switch Usti to rax as it was making units.
Found a sleeping rifle send to upgrade.
Found sleeping slave, put on the job. Amazing there is not more of these sleepers around. I probably will leave more than that. lol

Invasion force for Nubia, where is it again? I see some boats off Salzburg, but they are not loaded or in place to be loaded. Nothing around to load into them either.

Cleared some units near Canton and got a leader. I see we have rubber in Malinalco, but cannot make the Nat Rubber. Maybe it neds to be connected? I see we have Oil in Anyang connected, but no option for Nat Oil. I guess it was already built on the mainland. Will sit on leader and see, if I can get a road down and rush Nat Rubber.

I can only find 51 of the 54 still being reported. Not sure if we have hidden units or I am blind or cannot count. I do not see any units being made now with out a barracks.

IBT:
I have no clue what happened. By the time I got control of the game I had lost track, if I had any idea to begin with. I can say that USA captured an Az town. Lots of planes bombed us. I saw a battle and did not relaize we were in it, till the second
attack. A Lancia won once and retreated and I guess no one could reach it.

Maya cut a few of our improvements. All in all not much of import occurred. Well I did see a lot of units moving from someone. They were coming our way, but I do not see them now.

(1) 1870AD:
I see we can build the Nat Rubber in Aden on the mainalnd and its rubber is not connected? I get it now, it must have been tainted shields. Yup, Titus rushes the Nat Rubber in Malinalco. Hope that gives us the trade route.

Been playing Kings Bounty Crosswolrds and Sword of The Stars, so need to get my head back in civ.

Rename town to Lawtown to ease locating the lawyers. Set up seperate airfields for lancia, infantry and workers. It is too much work to deal with them in a massive stack. Setting up rally points for each town to an individual airfield to reduce the amount of moving units.

I am lost as to what the transports are doing. It almost looks like a chain, but has holes. Are we using chaining? A lot of warships are spread around the old asian area, not sure what they are doing either. May as well grab a few to send to cause some
trouble. For the record, just because I do not recognize the plan does not mean there was none.

Got a leader after I already rushed things, so I found a place to rush a temple. Dang got another leader and discovered another place to rush a temple. Huh another leader and I find another town to rush a temple. I guess I was not so good at glancing around the land the first pass. These leaders with in only about 9 battles.

Still another leader and temple rushed (probaly should have use a bigger structure). Have removed about 35 german troops next to Ottawa. Sunk a few boats. I was a bit surprised as only 6 units were available to fly over. Maybe 5 more to be shipped. Got another leader and park it.

Cleared 103 troops, but Mayan's have 51 left in the area. 24 near to Victoria and the rest in an unincorporate are near Toronto. I got lazy and just took the count in CAII and the count of units not in our borders I could reach. When done check CAII to see what was left and counted the remaining units near.

I just ran out of attackers so the 51 will have to wait and no offense. I am also worried about the bombers as they are in range of our bombers. I should have moved them many were already red or yellow. Many bombers shot down bombers while on runs. I do not see any being built and I leave it that way. They are more work than they are worth against troops. Useful for ships, but are hard to have in the right
place.

IBT:
Well I really lost track of this IBT as the game crashed twice, before I got the ini for Italian units fixed. I know we had the Lancia I misclicked get attacked, but it retreated to safety. I think 3 units attacked our rifle types and we lost one. I saw USA and Mayan go at it. Many bombing runs and a redline boats bombarded a town.

(2) 1871AD:
Upgrade 78 coastal batteries to flying boats.
A number of towns are using the continental rally point, but I do not know what towns have been reset and what ones have not. I have some workers on the mainland trying to get rails on the airfields so units can be sent to them in one turn. It is a lot easier to just let the game jump to a unit on an airfield and all I have to do is fly it to the other side.

Upgraded some steamers to freighters.
killed Mayan for another leader rush a Wat. I had already rushed something with the left over leader from last turn. (10-1).

Leader (12-1) rush a Mosque.
Back to back leaders (13-1). Rush a Wat.
Leader rushes Wat (20-1) I did get 2 retreats in the mix. These were all Mayan, save one Polsih unit.

Kill 8 USA troops and a Mayan (29-3) losing 2.
Back to USA again and gain a leader, rush Market (30-3).
Leader rushes Auqa (32-4).

Whoops I kill a unit that I thought was part of a stack and now I have left a Lancia exposed (34-3). Not going to cover it as there are too many heavy hitters. Just be risking another unit.

Three lawyers, 2 elite have gotten wins, but no artist or leaders. The non elite, did go elite.

Two elite ET's go hitless and retreat.
18 more dead and another lawyer wins (52-4).
7 more Mayan go down some were 1900 units (59-4). Victoria is cleared again.
Got leader and rushed Market (60-4).

Kill 6 Babylonians (66-4).
kill 4 Americans and cover the wayward Lancia. I made a road and railed the tile. I wanted to get rid of those heavy arties and some tanks (70-4).

8 units still in lands, plus Mayan's have 18 still in the nomans land. Finally got some ET's on the way over and a decent number of infantry/lancia are on the airfield. 12 hours for 2 turns. The last turn was only about 4 hours. Not that many stops as I did not leave the house or watch TV.

Start Radio No choice on that. Will want to check on towns to see, if they can build a structure to pick up the slack.

Carthage can build machine guns as it has the Artillery School.

IBT:
Now that I am in the swing of the game I took some better notice of the IBT. Looks like 10 bombings from USA and 10 also from Germany. Mayan's managed 8. We had 1 Mayan cav attack a town and die.

Two landings took place. Inca land a cav and a pike by Lawtown. The cav is not even a vet. Germany lands an AV7 and a Heavy artillery on Glasgow (island).

(3) 1872AD:
Sunk 3 boats, one Babylonian.
Kill 2 in Mosul and Babylon is eliminated. Not sure if we got the settler or someone else did. (5-0).
Kill 2 Germans in Mosul borders (7-0). 2 slaves in Mosul BTW.

Removed about 18 babylon troops with their ending.

Lawyers kills Incan pike for an Artist and it bombs Mosul (8-0).
Lawyers kills Incan cavs and gets Artist (9-0).

Removed the two German interlopers from Glasgow (11-0).
Lawyers get Artist from Polish infantry, but next lawyer only wins and breaks the streat at three (13-0). Lawtown earned its keep and we have 3 artist parked now.

Add a 4th artist as I used a *lawyer and kill Mayan cav for one (14-0). FAIK that is all the lawyers.

2 lancia get in kills and one gets a leader. Rush a Wat (16-0).
Next one also gets a leader and rushes a Mosque (17-0).
Next repeats the feat and we have a three peat (18-0).
Rats I switch to an ET and fail to get a 4 bagger (19-0).

Kill 10 American, but leave the AV7 alone as it is in a jungle tile (29-0).
Tough Incan 1900 unit kills the first Lancia cleanly and retreats the second, before the third finaly seals the deal (30-1).

I leave 7 Mayans alone that are not close or on a road, but are in our land.
Kill 16 Mayans by Lawtown and the last one gets a leader. Rush a Stupa (46-2).

Go 2 for 3 and clear the nomans land of Mayans (48-3).

IBT:
Usual 11/10/8 bombers, though I think one of the Mayan bombers hit an American.
Two attackers both retreat.

(4) 1873AD:
Sunk one of the Inca landing boats (1-0).
Sunk the two Germany landing boats (3-0).

First battle gets a leader (4-0).
Clean out 8 more Mayan units from Regina (12-1). Lost an elite ET doing no damage.

Kill 3 Az units (15-1).
Lawyer barely kills damage FL and gets an Artist (16-1).
Lawyer kills a warrior and goes elite (17-1).
Lawyer kills HA, gets artist (18-1).
Lawyer kills JT and goes elite (19-1). Another good run for the firm of Abate, Rebate and Reprobate. Lawtown has a party and we have maybe 5 artist stacked at Art_town. It is 6, I counted.

Kill 7 Polish units (26-2).
kill 8 Polish 1900's lost 2 flamers (34-4).

Lancia's go 1-0-1 on the last 1900 (35-4).

Kill 2 stray Americans (37-4).
Kill Polish cav (38-4).
I have located the 4 remaining units in the land, none can attack and are out of my reach.

Kill 6 AZ on the way to Seville (44-5).
Seville is held by 3 1900 units. Three straight *lancia retreat, then 2 straight lose, then we win three and take the place. 3 Zep get the Hindenburg treatment. We get 115 gold. (47-7)

What I want to do is to use this to block access to the Inca lands. We can then just raze those towns and patrol them. We are at 61% of the land. We can abandon the islands later to free space as we will need to hold some land. It looks like one or two towns can cut off the Polsih lands and we can clear and patrol that.

It has taken me this long to get some free units to attack with and none of the ET's have made our shores. I presume a chain had been used in the past, but I do not use them. I would, if the team mentions that want them. To me it does not matter as I can wait for the tanks. How long it takes to clear the land is of no concern.

Culture bomb Seville.

Go 3 for 4 and capture Madrid. Culture bomb it. I hate to do it, because I am going to abandon it as soon as I move on to the next town. We are at 62%. (50-8)

IBT:
Normal bombings and I am not going to mention them any longer. I just wanted the next player to have an idea what level was going on. I think we had 5 attacks and went 2-2-1.

(5) 1874AD:
Kill 3 Polish units (3-0).
Kill German AV (4-0).

Lawyer gets artist. (5-0).

Lancia's go 3-0-1 and we capture Barcelona and 101 gold. (8-0)
We go 5-1 at Vitcos and I raze it for 129 gold. It had 5 zeps (18-1).
Kill a Villas next to it (19-1).

Culture bomb Barcelona.
Kill Incan unit (20-1).
Go 3-2 and capture Arequipa (23-3).
Lawyer kills Mayan (24-3).

Kill 6 units in our backfield losing 1 and get a leader (30-4).
Culture bomb Arequipa.
Kill HA (31-4).

Vilcabamba is captured going 3-2 (34-6).
They have a lawyer next to town, but it is on a mountain with no road and I have no lawyers to use.

Kill 6 more in the cleaning around the town (40-7). Lost another elite tank. I see 2 slaves in town as well.

Culture bomber Vilcabamba.
Toledo was tough. Killed a marine going in and then had 8 elite lancia either die ro retreat from 3 units. Finally razed the town for 10 slaves (44-12).

Flying boats redline a boat and Naught sinks it (45-12).

Found out the a unit I was just moving to cover could kill the lawyer. It was called ruler, but was a Partisan (46-12).
Clear pike from Ica lands (47-12).
Got so wrapped up moving workers I fogot to list capture of Ica with just 2 lancia vets (49-12)

Killed units on the way in (50-12).
Lancia kill pike in fort (51-12).

I abandon Madrid after selling the stuff. We are at 63%.

Kill Mayan Vilas (52-12).
kill American rifle (53-12).
7 units left in land. 6 in the desert out of reach right now.

Screen of Incan area.

Good work. :goodjob:

Yes, I was ship-chaining tanks from Sparta to Shantung. I don't recall that we've avoided chaining in Rat's games; only in Greebley's, and even he's come around now. ;)

As I mentioned in my handover notes, the idea was that the ships off Salzburg would move south to Haifa, join the extra steamers we were rushing there, and pick up the troops for the invasion of Nubia at that point.

I don't have a big issue with it, just don't use it in my games. I use it in Demo or SG, if the team does. I just could not recall how we went. No biggie as we have plenty of time to get to Nubia.

I cleared the rest of the Inca towns, but they have one someplace. Going to stop for the day got in 4 turns (6 total), even with a long doctors visit. She knifed me in two places and burnt me in about 15.

Never like to see her, even though see looks good. Always cutting on me. I keep putting my hand to my head tonight forgetting it was stiched and bloody. Not too bright.

Got a few workers to use and rushes and then on to turn 7. Not sure who to hit next. I am leaning towards Poland as they are a top dog and we can cut them off like the Inca lands.

Need to abandon some town in the Inca land, but too sore to think it out now. Very slow start, but rolling now.
