RB1 - Cuban Isolationists

How many days has it been :) ?

Dude, chill. Sirian's already explained how long it's going to take. Let's be patient, mmm-kay? The last thing we want is for Sirian to get his PC upgraded and then say "You know, screw RB1--they keep badgering me. I'm going to go play the epic first" :nuke:

Er... wait? You mean I'm not going to play the Epic first? :mischief: Says who?

Actually, I suspect you will ... I just want you to feel GUILTY doing it :mischief:

EDIT: For all those who are perusing this thread ... the next several pages are what the moderators consider "spam" ... the game continues again on page 47.

Of course, nothing is stopping you from reading what's ahead, just be forewarned that it's not about RB1.

I've found they value health resources about as much as happiness resources (except ivory, of course), but less than strategic resources.

I have to disagree with the last part of your statement, though, as there have been many times where I've traded my only health resource for a happiness resources that the AI has in abundance. All they care about is if it's their last resource - they have no problem taking your last resource.

I meant the AI won't propose a resource trade unless you have at least 2 of that resource. Now I don't have to double-check my stores to make sure they aren't trying to fleece me.

@Sullla & Sirian:

Thx guys, I tried it and it worked perfectly. Next question: Can you airlift a unit to a civ's city you are allied with ? Or does your ally have to surrender the city to you in order to enable this ? And another one: The AI is badgering me about converting to their state religion. But when I enter the dilpomatic screen, I can't ask them to convert to mine. What's the matter with this ?

Best regards,

Lord Timon

To get them to convert is really tough I have basically had to have my religion in all of their cities and them not to have founded their own to stand a chance

Even more odd (to me) is when they do agree to convert and do.. then 5 turns later they go back to the old religion. Wassup wit dat?

If they founded the religion they convert back to, it's probably to get back the +5 culture per turn from the founding city (you lose that when it's not the state religion).

It's only possible to convert an empire to a religion that is present in one of its cities. So you have to make sure your religion is present in their empire before asking. Note that AI usually converts to a religion that is present in most of his cities, so if you are asking him to convert, you have to first send in missionaries to most of his cities, otherwise he'll just convert back.

Just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying reading this thread, and I've learned a few things that will really help :worship:

Good luck with getting your computer working, I really look forwards to seeing the conclusion of this game :D

I've spread my religion to every one of their cities and they still red-out the conversion; and yet they demand I convert as tribute!

They're probably more reluctant to convert from a religion they founded; plus, I traded with their enemies like crazy. :mischief:

Either that or "I just don't like you enough". Refreshing honesty!

I had fully spread my religion to all my opponents cities and played a bouncing game. He'd convert to my religion for 5 turns, then go back, then I'd ask him to convert for another 5 and so on. Me and George had great relations, only slightly sullied for the 5 turns he was not going with my religion.

In the "For What It's Worth" category...

I managed to play a game of Triple Yacht without having to take any zeroes.

You have to get lucky and pull three Yahtzees in one game (I actually got four in this one) but you also have to play the rest of your hand correctly, and get a little luck now and then (such as filling your third Large Straight on an inside draw with just a few rounds left to go!)

And yes, I confess. I -have- been playing some of Epic One, while waiting on the parts to arrive. The early part of games, things are a lot less crashtastic, as my ability to play RB1 in to the modern age also showed.

So I have been Civving. You didn't actually think I'd GO COLD TURKEY FOR MORE THAN FIVE OR SIX DAYS, did you?
 :rotfl:  Like that is even possible. Heh.

Sirian you're such a nut. I don't think I'd want to play backgammon against you with those kind of rolls but how 'bout rollin' the bones with me in Vegas?

I cant go more than 5 maybe 6 hours before one of my children ask when I will attack Monty again. (it's funny because I have an uncle named Montezuma and we call him Monty)

My first post on CivFanatics. :D

Been following this thread since the beginning and it prompted me to finally register after 5 years of lurking. I also registered on RBC. Thanks, S&S. :hatsoff:

Anyway, here's my reason for posting. I've been enjoying the Hoyle's screenshots so much, I went looking for it on Amazon. Sirian mentioned how he got it for $20. It's now $13.53 MINUS a $10 rebate. Let me do the math for you all. That's $3.53. Good enough for me. Here's the link if you are so inclined.

EDIT: Rebate is only good if purchased by 12/1/2005. TOMORROW.

EDIT2: The official rebate form says 12/31/2005, so the other date is probably in error.

As if Sirian's ego hasn't been stroked enough in this thread ...

You're going to love this. In my business strategy class tonight, I relevantly cited "Sirian's Law." And yep, I actually called it Sirian's Law. :D

Remind us of Sirian's law for those of us without eidetic memories?
