Like i have said before, reguardless of the rules, the president should be the one to make the decision not the people. This is a representative democracy. Dont elect MN if he isnt going to do what you want him to. Well that was badly phrased, but i dont feel like retyping it.
You're right, that
was rather badly phrased. But, seriously, where do you get off saying what the President can or can't do? You keep telling us that the President can do his job however he likes, so if the President wants to poll public opinion before making a decision, there's no problem with that by your logic, correct?
Guys why would we make peace for christ's sake??? It makes no sense.
There are a few reasons.
1) Taking new cities adds new costs to the empire. Expanding/conquering rapidly and without planning leads to a stagnated economy. This is the price of maintenance for cities and units.
2) Every turn we are at war and building units is a turn we could be building something else at peace.
3) Following from 1 and 2, war should be pursued for specific objectives. Our original objective was to survive, but then we realized that Rome was weaker than we thought. Yet if we let that go to our heads, we may continue to wage war longer than is beneficial.
We have determined that we have fallen behind technologically. Therefore, we are likely to be best served by taking the prime economic real estate from Rome and leaving the rest for a later date. We can always keep an eye on Russia's progress and take the rest of Rome if they look like they will overwhelm Rome, or, at worst, try to pay Russia to make peace with Rome.
The Imperial Party may favor war the most among the tool in our nation's toolbox, but war without purpose is a grievous misuse of that tool.
