It seems like every time our situation gets too good, LH bumps it back down a notch with one of his WBed events...

Spec-Thats the GMs job.

MN+Ilduce-Um...theres only one realpolitik MN....besides that i dont think anything is really 'wow', although the first quote is debatable.

:twitch:

Well, if you're on, that probably means we'll know the battle results soon.

Tomorrow. I've spent today in town with a stint at a friend's house during my mom's eye appointment. Exhausted. I'll get you your update tomorrow though! I swear it!:p

He edited his sig, but when I posted. It was this
Post this in your sig if you have NOT become a recent fan of the 18 civ duel. (18 civs, duel map, always war)
Take a look at my sig, if he want to know why I thought this was pathetic

To prevent us from doing relatively well, let alone get anywhere near winning the game?

Not that I'm complaining or anything. It just seems like LH's events are there to "balance out" the game - i.e. bring us down when we're doing well and pick us up when we're falling behind.

That's the point. That way, the game is never unwinnable, and we never get too cocky.

Well, I could make the argument that keeping us down at all could make the game, if not unwinnable, then extremely difficult.

Victory Conditions
Time: Highest score at the end of the game.
Diplomatic Victory: AP or UN
Space: Get the Space Ship to Alpha Centauri first.
Domination: Control 2/3 of the world's land mass.
Conquest: Eliminate or vassalize every rival civ.
Cultural: Bring 3 cities to Legendary cultural status.

Cultural is right out, mainly because we have not been building towards that, and it's really too late to start, I think.

Conquest is extremely unlikely, given the condition of our military, and other factors.

Domination is more likely than Conquest, but there is a LOT of land to take. Given the fact that we're about 200 turns in, and do not control all of Europe, it's a late start for this one.

Space is doable, if we can get ahead in tech, and stay ahead. But we're lagging.

Diplomacy is very unlikely. AP is close to impossible, especially since we'd have to get missionaries across the oceans. UN... very unlikely. We'd probably want to grow much larger to increase our voting power, anyway.

Score. Most boring way to win, but also the easiest. Basically, get a lot of cities, and get them very large. If we went this way, we might as well seek Domination.

Honestly, in a normal game, I'd say that we should consider which victory condition to start pursuing, but this isn't a normal game. I suppose we may just want to hope that we fall into one, or aim for Space or Score. Personally, Domination/Conquest would be the most fun.... In any case, getting a victory requires gaining momentum and keeping it. If we get knocked down too often, it could be hard to maintain that momentum.

Greetings, since i stumbled over this project and i´m reading through the history books right now, i will try to participate in your leading England to victory.

regards
Nekator

Thank you ilduce, i will decide which party i support after reading the history and getting a bit into the actual events.

Hello Nekator, no rush to join a party we have a growing number of Independents at the moment so it would be fine if you didn't join one.

I guess i should polish of the next book seeing as the post-election events have stabalised.

Captain Fargle i've sent you a PM to discuss the current Regime.

Vice Opposition leader Arya i never got a reply from the newsletter, should i assume you agree with everything?

Whosit... i hate to be the despicable person to point this out, but those winning conditions are only challenging if we play... honourably.
Diplomacy you can nudge a few countries to decalre war on each other Then nuke loads of them to decrease the surpluss population and give ourselves the most votes...
Domination we can declare war on the weak nations. The powerful nations in this game are the peaceful ones. India for example. We just go to backwards america and slaughter the new world.
Space is also about production to build the ship... so again nuking could be used to stop enemies or switching to a full espionage economy to constantly sabotage our rival builders.

Just on the name, maybe the German War of Independence? And then we get to paint it that we intervened to help gain sovereignty to an oppressed race?

Propaganda works wonders y'know!

After horrendous fighting and nearly fifteen hundred Allied casualties, the six hundred-man garrison of Mediolanum was overcome today by German expeditionary units. The 99th Infantry under Colonel Guderian was the first Allied detail to raise a flag over the historic Roman city, and King Fredrick quickly set up his government in the City Hall, before ordering construction of a new palace. There are unconfirmed rumors that both Ragnar and Caesar have issued requests for negotiation with President Whosit.

It is truly a different world.

Yes!! Mediolanum is ours! Oh, and just in time too. Any delay would have seen a Norse victory.

Alright, Whosit I'm putting my trust in you. Make sure Caeser gives into our demands.

I agree that Cultural, Diplomatic, Domination, and Conquest are pretty much out of the picture. IMO, our best bet is Space. Then again, the game is far from over, and we could still pull off a large-scale conquest.

Very good.

I would like to send a messenger first to Caesar, then to Ragnar.
