Convert 20 supplies into 5 explosives

Send 20 men to jump the soviets lost in Hell's Kitchen

Send 5 me with 5 explosives to distract the guards at the theatre. They'll plant their explosives at locations around the theatre (preferably taking out some guards if possible), then scatter as soon as the bombs go off. Hopefully this will create enough of a diversion for the sympathiser to do his work, and give our boys enough time to bug out.

From: The Hellions
To: All Resistence Cells in the New York Region

If you can handle transportation, we can provide the goods (by goods, we mean only drugs and bombs).

Medicine = 3 supplies + 5 credits OR 35 credits
Explosives = 4 supplies + 5 credits OR 45 credits

Just so everyone is aware, I'm going to be doing another quick adjustment onto Fuel expenses for vehicles. I'm not liking the pitiful gas mileage that some vehicles have, so they've got to be adjusted.

Headquarters Assets: None

Spend 50 credits on 10 shotguns
20 credits on 20 ammo

Mission 1, Explosives:

Ten comrades, five with shotguns, five with pistols, will trek on foot to the warehouse. We go in loud, we shoot loud, and we sweep the area as quickly as possible. We post our fishing boat to be on standby, try to have our men pick up as much explosive as possible, but if they otherwise would leave any behind, go get the boat ready to take literally every explosive we can put on it.

Mission 2, Rescue:

To be honest, this mission isn't even worth it. It seems all civvies have to do is fight once to get promoted, and there is no way this is actually worth the ammo to save them.

That is, of course, excepting the IMVs.

Now, we don't have the means of storing the IMVs; garage is too expensive. But we can steal them and sell them for some hard credits to finance our war. That's what we are going to do.

Again, we will have ten comrades, five with shotties and five with pistols, to make a makeshift "checkpoint" for the IMVs to stop. Makimg a hasty roadblock would be amazing. When they slow down, try to break into the IMVs and kill all the passengers, then we drive the fudge out of there. We take all three, and we bring them to the black market to sell them all.

The recruits stay of course.

Scouting:

Our last five goons should go to the docks and scout for missions of a more... Nautical persuasion. We are pirates in the making, goddamnit.

Radio Free America: Update 2, May 2017

The Soviet Press Corps has broadcast the following announcement in response to recent “terrorist activity” in the greater New York area: “Citizens of America are hereby reminded that with the dissolution of the old regime’s illegal constitution, the so-called ‘Second Amendment Rights’ no longer apply. In light of recent excesses and massacres conducted by the remnants of the decadent capitalist government, any citizen caught in possession of a firearm or ammunition will have the maximum allowable penalties applied, including work camp servitude or in extreme cases, death.” You know what that means patriots! Keep those guns hidden under the floorboards or out of your cars when you’re going past those Red checkpoints, or else you and your family can look forward to an express train to the Dakotas! Those of you still fighting the Reds, keep up the Good Fight!

The All-Americans
A Soviet Patrol was ambushed by the All-Americans, but unfortunately, what could have been a brief firefight turned into a prolonged gun battle. Although the Americans were better soldiers, the Soviets sprayed bullets with wanton disregard for their position. Several Americans were killed while others were injured before the Soviets were defeated and much of the Soviet gear was no longer useable. (+3 Assault Rifles, +1 IMV; -7 Ammunition, -3 Regulars, 2 Regulars Wounded)

The All-Americans expanded upon their success and launched an attack upon an occupied big box store from which the Soviets were distributing supplies. The attacks started well enough as snipers picked off Soviet forces, but eventually the sheer amount of bullets put into the air by the communists took their toll. Several All-Americans were wounded in the fighting, and one was killed. Still, afterward, along with quite a few civilians from the local area, plenty of looting took place, and a large number of supplies were brought back to the rebel base. (+100 Supplies, +12 Assault Rifles; +1 Notoriety, -1 Regular, 3 Regulars Wounded)

Not content with their other victories, the All-Americans used a captured Soviet IMV to set up a trap for another Soviet patrol. Three Soviet platoons discovered the IMV, and using a remote detonator, the Americans initiated a blast that wiped out two of them and critically wounded members of the other groups. Another Soviet IMV was destroyed in the process.

Available Opportunities
Spoiler :

A doubled Soviet patrol will be passing along the roads to the southeast of us. They appear to be a reasonable target for a surprise strike to wean down the Soviet numbers.
Enemy Strength: 10 Recruits, 2 IMVs
Rewards: None
Risks: None

An armored personnel carrier is said to be transporting a small group of soldiers from the 82nd who had been captured in the battle for the city. A small escort is along with them, making this a somewhat risky proposition.
Enemy Strength: 15 Recruits, 2 IMVs, 1 APC
Rewards: 5 Regulars
Risks: None

The Blue Eagles
Available Opportunities
Spoiler :

A group of Soviet artillerymen have gotten lost and drunk in South Chinatown. We have a chance to wipe out a detachment of Red forces with minimal risk in the dark alleys of our area.
Enemy Strength: 5 Recruits
Rewards: None
Risks: None

The Soviets have been slowly eliminating all non-communist artifacts from the Museum of Chinese in America. They have been packing them up for future destruction. They are currently under guard by a small force at the museum, and liberating these artifacts could build support among the people.
Enemy Strength: 10 Recruits
Rewards: +1 Legitimacy
Risks: None

The Eradicators
Available Opportunities
Spoiler :

A Soviet oil truck has suffered a flat tire just off of Grand Central Parkway to the north. Only a handful of local soviet guards have been sighted nearby, along with the driver. This could be a prime opportunity to gather a good bit of fuel.
Enemy Strength: 5 Recruits
Rewards: Fuel
Risks: None

A preacher at Mt. Zion Baptist Church has become quite the useful mouthpiece for the Soviet occupation forces. He continues to preach cooperation and collaboration to the people of Queens. We know he will be alone in his office, besides some security outside provided by the Red Army, and assassinating him could be a blow to Soviet propaganda in our area.
Enemy Strength: 5 Recruits
Rewards: +1 Legitimacy
Risks: +2 Notoriety

The Hellions
The Hellions have been reported to have been involved in a fairly inconclusive gun battle in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. Despite having surprise on their side, they were still outgunned and outmatched by a lost Soviet patrol. A small number of Soviets survived the fight and fled to safer parts of the city. Multiple Hellions were killed in the fighting, and several were wounded. (+4 Assault Rifles, 13 Civilians upgraded to Recruits; -7 Civilians, 2 Civilians wounded)

The Hellions had a similarly ill-fated assault upon the Barrymore Theater, where a sympathizer helped demolish the building as the Hellions provided an explosive distraction. The Soviets were highly disoriented by the attack and many were killed in the process. Unfortunately, the Hellions were inexperienced with their own explosive devices and two were killed while setting their charges. The remainder got away without any significant fighting. The destruction of the Barrymore Theater has sent a strong message to any would-be collaborators on Broadway. (+1 Civilian, +1 Legitimacy; -2 Civilians, -2 Pistols)

Available Opportunities
Spoiler :

The Soviets have reopened a defunct gas station on a pier to the southwest to fuel their patrol boats on the Hudson River. Only a handful of Soviet marines are defending it and this could be a good opportunity to seize some fuel.
Enemy Strength: 5 Regulars, 1 Patrol Boat
Rewards: Fuel
Risks: None

The Soviets have raided a house that was keeping a small group of National Guardsmen hidden from the authorities. They are transporting them by foot to the interment facility in Trump Tower. We have a chance to free these prisoners as they head down New York’s streets. Unfortunately, this attack would have to be in broad daylight in a highly trafficked area, risking civilian casualties.
Enemy Strength: 20 Recruits
Rewards: 10 Recruits
Risks: Collateral Damage Possible (+2 Notoriety)

Poseidon’s Revenge
A raid by Poseidon’s Revenge upon a Soviet storage depot took a turn for the worse as the attacking force failed to obtain any surprise and were quickly outgunned by the defenders. The rebels were driven off without gaining access to the stored supplies, and forced to retreat back to base. (+1 Notoriety, -10 Ammunition, -5 Civilians, 5 Civilians promoted to Recruit, 3 Recruits Wounded)

The failure of their first attack notwithstanding, the Revenge struck at a Soviet convoy holding prisoners of war. They managed to achieve complete surprise over the Soviet forces, stalling them at a natural looking roadblock and tricking them out of their vehicles. Most of the Soviets were not even able to lay hands on their weapons before they were wiped out. Their vehicles were immediately stolen and sold to the black market, while the soldiers gleefully joined up. (+600 Credits from IMV sale, +5 Recruits, +10 Assault Rifles, +20 Ammunition, 10 Civilians promoted to Recruit; -10 Ammunition)

Available Opportunities
Spoiler :

A Soviet barge carrying ammunition is passing slowly by us to the northeast in the dead of night. There’s only a few marines aboard to protect the cargo, offering us a chance to strike.
Enemy Strength: 10 Regulars
Rewards: Ammunition
Risks: None

Two squads of Soviet soldiers are investigating our attack upon the recent prisoner convoy. If we strike at them we can prevent them from learning anything about our local operations.
Enemy Strength: 10 Recruits
Rewards: None
Risks: If patrol is not eliminated, +2 Notoriety

The Red Dusk
The Red Dusk has done their due diligence to discourage ill-planned Soviet expeditions into the South Mountain Reserve. A Soviet tank was left exposed with only a few escorts in the wilderness, and the Red Dusk took advantage. Striking in the dark of night, they managed to eliminate several sentries before the alarm was raised. A brief and bitter firefight ensued, killing almost half of the resistance fighters, and wounding several others. The tank was destroyed by a desperate Soviet operator, keeping it out of resistance hands. The remaining Soviets were killed and their weapons and IMVs taken back to the Red Dusk’s base camp. Soviet planes were later seen bombing the area, though well after the resistance escaped (+13 Assault Rifles, +400 Credits from sale of IMVs, 2 Civilians Upgraded to Recruits; -23 Ammunition, -3 Civilians, -3 Recruits from casualties, 3 Recruits Wounded).

Another attack by the Red Dusk was far less ambiguous in its success. Striking at a Soviet position on the outskirts of the Reserve, they managed to surprise and wipe out the Soviet regulars without raising any eyebrows. A small cache of explosives were seized by the rebels, as well as the gear of the surprised Soviets (+5 Assault Rifles, +10 Ammunition, +15 Explosives).

On the home front, it has been reported that two resistance soldiers died of poor medical care lacking medicine or treatment options after last month’s raids. (-2 Recruits)

Available Opportunities
Spoiler :

A large group of armed soldiers are confronting protesting students at Seton Hall University. With the Soviets distracted by the protests, it could be an ideal time to get the jump on this Soviet force, but collateral damage could be a risk.
Enemy Strength: 30 Recruits, 6 IMVs
Rewards: +1 Legitimacy
Risks: Collateral Damage is possible (+2 Notoriety)

The Soviet forces have restored the Girl Scouts of America and a group of soldiers have begun working on a new encampment just inside the Reserve to house these children. When the children arrive these instructors and soldiers will no longer be as exposed. Striking them down gives us a chance to further wear down the Soviet army.
Enemy Strength: 20 Recruits
Rewards: None
Risks: None

OOC

So this is my first “welcome aboard” post to all of you since starting the thread. I’m still alive, and it pained me seeing the NESing forum inactive. So, I figured may as well start something while I’m bored and needing entertainment. My philosophy here is just what it always has been for NES: to tell a good story using the mechanics of a game. Over the past year I’ve been quite a bit into Dungeons and Dragons, and this has substantially influenced a lot of the mechanics behind these updates and my style of modding. I encourage all of you to treat this not only as a winnable game, but more like a Dungeons and Dragons campaign in which the other players are party members, just instead of classes, they’re resistance movements. I’m glad to be back and hope that we all have fun in the weeks to come.

Current Map
Spoiler :

Eradicators:

Spending:

-50 Credits for 5 Civilians
-100 Credits for 10 Carbines
-10 Credits for 10 Ammo

Operations:

Mission One (Fuel Truck):
15 civilians, 5 armed with carbines and 10 armed with pistols, will rob the Ruskies blind. Although we have no vehicles, at the very least we can sell the fuel to fuel (no pun intended) our resistance movement. The squad of Eradicators will sneak up on the Ruskies and hold them at gunpoint. Only fire at the Ruskies if absolutely necessary, generally it is a bad idea to have a firefight right next to a oil tanker. And if we leave the recruits alive then it makes this look more like a standard robbery. Of course take all their weapons and equipment as well if possible. If things go south or the Ruskies manage to escape, shoot the oil tanker. If we can't get the fuel then we won't let the damn Ruskies have it.

Mission Two (Assassination): Now this is the perfect job for the Eradicators! Zachary Schaffhauser will personally lead a squad of 15 civilians, 5 armed with carbines and 10 armed with pistols, to Eradicate the quisling priest and his Ruskie groupies. We will go in hot and loud, there's no reason to restrain ourselves when it is highly unlikely that anyone but the enemy will be there. And don't forget to loot the corpses, its not like the Ruskies will need or deserve their weapons after their final deployment.

We've got guns, you've got meds. Want to trade?

The Hellions would be glad to trade medicine for weaponry. How does 35 (ex. 1 assault rifle +1 shotgun) credits worth of weapons = 1 medicine sound?

That should work out cheaper for you than buying meds at 40 creds, and cover the 30 cred supplies cost to make the meds.

OOC: assuming we can actually physically trade.
@EQandcivfanatic is there any way for us to actually trade? Or would we have to load up a car and drive all the way across the map?

That sounds good to us. We'll load up the ol' Sedan and meet you at a drop point. How much you'd give us for 6 Assault Rifles?

A vehicle would have to be used, unless your forces can walk to the relevant other faction. That is why vehicles have had the amount of resources they carry included with the stats.

Background Trait
: Academic
Starting Location: New York University
Background: Benji Goldstein has always been a card-carrying communist. So one would think he would applaud the Soviet victory in the cold war, and the upcoming worldwide revolution. One would think. Unfortunately, Goldstein is of the opinion that the Soviets are practicing the wrong form of communism. A form which would lead to an eternal dictatorship of the military-intelligence complex. After the collapse of the markets he was low key running recruiting for a commune to be built in the New York countryside. Now he's preparing for war. For the workers of the world!

Spending to come later.

Can I request a map key? Thanks :)

Blue Eagles Orders

25 Civilians with pistols will attack the Soviet Recruits guarding the artifacts; we're not Maoists! Take their weapons and ammo to arm ourselves, and of course, the artifacts with us to keep safe. While there may be some risks, we can't let these important treasures fall into the wrong hands (besides, maybe we can sell them later ;) ) Try to line up in position so that we can attack all 10 recruits at once with a few pistol shots before they can get anything at us.

The Blue Eagles are more than happy to trade medicine and explosives for interested parties with compensation

Look into developing drugs; meth could be a good profit maker and would be fun to sell to Soviet Forces

Also....could I get a color change to Blue? :<

Headquarters Assets: None

Spending:

Sell 6x Assault Rifles for 90 credits
Spend 100 credits on 2x Explosives
Spend 40 credits on 40 ammunition

Orders:

Bury our dead with the highest honors we can. Make the passing of our wounded soldiers as comfortable as possible. Remind the living men that we are soldiers first and that we may very well all die, but our brethren died before us attempting to defend New York and, by God, we will all die trying to liberate it if that is what is needed. The men who die now and in the long months and years ahead will forever be remembered as true American heroes.

With that, we will plan our next operations.

Ambush the double patrol to our south-east, preferably find another narrow road that the vehicles will be traveling along and place remote detonated explosives within a trash can or another type of disguise that is not out of place in the local area, lay it on the road in a position that isn't too suspicious but will be close enough to the enemy vehicles that it will disable the lead one. After we've detonated the explosive device and disabled the lead vehicle, have 5x soldiers with carbines snipe enemy dismounts while 10x soldiers with assault rifles laying in ambush will assault the IMVs and kill/capture what ever enemies they can as well as grab what ever supplies they can as well. If we can salvage an IMV we will to use in follow on operations. All soldiers will wear balaclavas or bandannas or some other mask to hide their faces.

After we've determined the prisoner transport route, we will attempt a similar ambush on the prisoner transport and escort. Make another disguised IED to disable the lead vehicle. We will also attempt to disguise the captured IMV along the route and, once the explosives go off, it will drive out to block the rear of the enemy convoy. Similarly, 5x carbine snipers and 10x assault riflemen will carry out another ambush and attempt to liberate our captured All-American brothers and capture what ever enemy supplies are still usable after the assault. All soldiers will wear balaclavas or bandannas or some other mask to hide their faces.

If at any point we are able to capture any Soviet soldiers, we will blindfold them and transport them to our base in order to interrogate them to find the locations of their aid stations and supply dumps in the area. We will verify the intel with scouts, if the information is bad we will punish the lying soldiers and ask them again, only this time less nicely. We will continue to hold the captured soldiers and will not execute any of them. Afterall, they're probably good Soviet boys that just want to go home...

At the end of the month we will move our base one hex northwest. When we move base, blindfold any POWs. Actually, keep the POWs blindfolded at all times and wear masks whenever we interact with them.

Hire, with 100 Credits, 10 recruits, drawing from the pool of disenfranchised Seton Hall Maintenance Staff and Student Organizers, about evenly.

Two days before the scheduled protest, the Maintenance staff will receive 15 explosives, as well as 15 drums of fuel, which they will bury underneath the likely areas for the IMVs. They will do this under the guise of routine re-paving and lawn maintenance.

On the day of the protest itself, the hired student organizers will be responsible for keeping the protest in check. They are to attempt to keep the protesters peaceful and within the accepted protest bounds. (Using excuses as “don’t let them arrest you. Toe the line, but give them no excuse. etc...”) This is meant to minimize collateral damage.

The Student organizers will also be responsible for organizing escape routes from the protest grounds. (Which I imagine is standard practice for student protests in the Post-soviet world. I imagine that protests have been violently broken up a number of times.) The student organizers are to organize these routes to lead away from the explosives.

At a certain point, when the IMVs are located in the right place (Ignoring the soldiers - I don’t have much hope of doing much more than morale damage) blow the bombs.

Meanwhile, Jake Sandusky will himself lead an assault, with 15 men, all armed with Assault Rifles, ambushing the planned Girl Scout camp. As per the previous assault, attack at night, striking from the brush quietly and quickly with knives, killing as many as possible and evening the odds before the inevitable firefight. Gather their weapons and equipments, and, if possible, try to capture a soviet radio. It’d be useful to try to get an idea of their movement.

Gina, on the other hand, is gonna take the sedan, 6 assault rifles, and trade’m to one of the other cells, down in New York. They make meds, and we’re gonna need em.

Also buy 3 meds from the black market, incase our shipment doesn’t make it to the hellions.

Spend 120 credits on getting five medicine. We will leave no soldier behind.

Spend 50 credits to get 50 ammo. We might be raiding to get some ammo but I want to make sure we have plenty in the case we fail.

Mission 1: this is exactly the kind of mission we are built to take advantage of.

We will take five of our recruits, and put them on our fishing boat. In the darkest of night, we sail with our lights off up to the barge and have total radio silences. We are not taking a full compliment of troops, because, obviously, we want some room to steal the ammunition. All five of our newly christiened pirates will be equiped with our shotguns; all fighting should be during the boarding, and that is all close range.

When our tiny fishing boat is next to the barge, we silently rope up into the boat, kill of its passengers, take the ammo, and leave. Unfortunately, while we would love to blow up the boat to send a message, the explosives arent worth it. Plus it might freak the soviets out to see a ghost ship, which can be nice in itself.

Mission 2:

The last 7 of our recruits, along with three civilians, will form a nice task force to wipe out the soviet uits that are investigating us. All troops in this squad will be armed with assault rifes, because we need as much firepower as we possibly can.

Staten Island is no downtown Manhattan. There is no real dark, mysterious alleyways that we can strike from. However, we might even have a better plan. We will have one of our civilians stake the patrol, try to find out exactly what roads they are planning on sweeping and direction they are heading. The rest of the nine find an unoccupied building (got to be bounds of them due to the soviet occupation), set up in the windows, and hide themselves. When the soviets pass the building, open fire in one alpha strike, pick up anything that might be useful, and get the heck out of there.

Any spare heads scout, once again prioritizing any news out at sea.

EDITEDIT: Just to show BOTH sides of the story...

So a sluggishly operated drone can be an easy target. Especially say if it is looking in one direction and it gets blind sided from another before it can start evasive manuvers.
