Request for Feedback: 1000 post rule

Came up in staff, thought I'd see what y'all think about it. Currently we archive/close threads at 1000 posts and the next 'version' of the thread is allowed to be created.

What would you think about doing away with that rule? So that once a thread is started it goes until it dies a natural death? Or should we keep it around?

In older versions of vB, yes this was true. I'm not sure this one does that.

Postcounts show up fine for me. I'm not sure why everyone is saying them do not.

The issue is not postcounts not showing up, but postcounts not being incremented by 1 when clicking 'submit reply'.

I'm in favor of keeping the tradition of starting a new thread at 1K as well.

If the database is no longer an issue. Then I think some threads should maybe keep going, and other be archived. There's no gain to "Many Questions" being kept active. There is to "Cool Pics" and "Ask A Professional".
