[RFC] The History of the Arab World

Al-Mutasim followed his half-brother's plans of conquering the Ottoman Caliphate and the stragetically important Ottoman capital of Istanbul. His generals assembled the Caliphate's countless armies in Mesopotamia and a detailed battle plan against the Ottomans was drawn. The goal was to immeatidely capture the Ottoman naval base of Halep and simultaniously close the passage to Iran near the Southwestern Coast of the Caspian Sea. The initial attack force consisted of eight Cavalry Regiments, four Artillery Batteries and some Infantry Divisions.

In order to provide militaristic support, if needed, from Europe the Sultanate of Germany occupied the only militaristically significant Roman City State of Rome. Thus there was no risk of the Italian City States uniting against the Caliphate and signing an alliance with the Ottomans.

Meanwhile, the great monument called the Statue of Liberty was constructed in Takht-e Jamshid in order to underline the religious freedom that Al-Mutasim had incorporated to the Caliphate.

In 1660AD Al-Mutasim and the Arabian Caliphate declared war on the Ottomans using a border dispute as an excuse. As expected the Russian Empire honored their defensive pact with the Ottomans an declared war on the Caliphate and her vassals. Nontheless Ottomans had little hope that the Russian Empire could assist them in their war effort as the Russians would have their hands full against the Sultanates of France, Germany and England.

Before the actual invasion began Arabian spies in Halep orchestrated a massive revolt against the Ottoman troops and goverment, so that the city was basicly defenceless when Arabian main army reached it and the Arabian Cavalry entered the city through the opened city gates. Halab was claimed for the Caliphate.

The Arabian army quickly moved towards Trabzon, where the Ottoman armies were being assembled, from Halab leaving only a small garrison behind. These two armies encountered eachother on the hills west of Trabzon and a massive battle took place. Despite the hardy resistance the Arabians were able to overwhelm the Ottomans and lay siege on Trabzon. The Ottoman Caliphate had been split into two from the middle.

The siege of Trabzon lasted six months, during which the Arabian cannons relentlessly bombarded the city. Arabian troops also fortified the pass to Iran in Caucasus region.

After six months Al-Mutasim finally gave the attack order, which was preceded by massive Arabian shellings. The initial cavalry charge breached the city and the defenders were ruthlessly massacred and the city itself burned to the ground.

The Arabian army moved forward quickly towards the last Ottoman stronghold in the Caucasus, Baku. The city of Baku had been drained from soldiers in order to defend Trabzon and stop the Arabians there. Thus Arabian troops captured the city without signicant resistance. After the city was fortified, the main Arabian army turned west towards the heartlands of the Ottoman Caliphate.

Meanwhile Al-Mutasim passed away and was succeeded by his son, Al-Wathiq ibn Mutasim. During Al-Wathiq's first years as a Caliph many new reforms were began in the Caliphate and in 1700AD the Caliphate moved on to the Industrial Age.

No, not the Industrial era! You've lost your awesome cultural buildings and had them replaced by ugly, European apartment blocks!

Why raze Trabzon and keep Baku?

In 1660AD Al-Mutasim and the Arabian Caliphate declared war on the Ottomans using a border dispute as an excuse.

Maybe an attempt to unify the Caliphate could be a better casus belli.

I'd name this war "The War of the Caliphates".

Yeah, you're right, border dispute is perhaps a more modern invention.

Arabian Aggression, I like it
I'll come up with a better name for the part III.

or maybe 'The War of Islamic Unification' ; 'War of Islamic Roman Unification' (boring)

btw, after turkey, will you be looking to expand?

Of course.;)
After/while finishing Turkey comes Indonesia. However, taking it will probably push Islam over 40%, which will be the end of this story..

yeah, do like me in my private RFC Rand Germany game,i won UHV,2 turns later completed Domination and Space Race. :P and invaded like 3 countries, i just stopped playing this game because i reinstalled the Civ IV and forgot to backup the saves. so i lost one of the best games i ever had. :(
maybe you can try to do something like that.

trabzon has wheat if you let it.

When I razed it, I was thinking of founding Sinop, which fits my city placement better.

then continue the story after victory!

I don't think so, the story has to end at some point and this is the best that I can think of.

You should do the Mongols next. Or maybe the Aztecs or Khmer. Haven't seen one of those.

Mongolia would be rather short lived, if I aim for the UHV. North America has very little action for Aztecs. I would just settle all the decent plots and kill Americans when they spawn. Khmers might be interesting. However, I am not sure whether I will begin another story, somehow it feels like that people have moved on to civ5. Although, I do have couple interesting civs that I would like to do a story with.

Rand is nice but somehow I like regular RFC better, so I doubt that I'll ever make a Rand story..

I have edited some screenshots, so I'll update in couple days.

A lot of people have stayed with civ 4 (including me), due to civ 5 being too bad (I would use a ruder word, but I'd get infracted). Look at Sullla's page on it: http://www.garath.net/Sullla/Civ5/civ5SP.html

i was talking about how you shouldn't stop doing this story. maybe add some personal goals...
(btw, i also prefer regular RFC, i just love earth maps)

Civ V is very good, but i will stay with both (unless my Rise of Mankind and Regular Revolutions keeps crashing every 10 turns for no reason at all, thank god GEM wont crash, and still has Rev)
after some patching Civ V will become a superb game, it just needs a better AI and fixes, but hey, when they released Civ IV it was almost same thing (whiout the dumb AI tough). with many bugs, like almost every game. Civ V is a game with a huge potential, so, i will just look foward for patches and expansions (when i do buy it)
