Rhye's of Civilization - the fastest loading mod Expanded - PART II

Is it just me, or does technology progress WAY too slow in this mod?

Every technology at the start of the game takes easily 30-50 turns to complete.

Is there something I need to tinker or is this just the way the game is meant to be played?

Maybe just play better yoruself?

First, congratulations for the mod, it's amazing!

I'm currently playing my first game with this mod, and there is a little strange thing I would like to understand (I've searched on this post and the old one but found nothing, sorry if I missed an already existing answer):

Why does the machinegunner unit have no effect on the military police limit in cities?
Is that "normal"? And how is it technicaly possible? (I mean what's the difference between this unit and, for example, lancer in the editor that's make one having an effect on the military police and the other not?)

I would also like to understand how it was possible to modify the religious trait effects? As far I know, there's nothing in the editor that allow this, so what part of the game can be modified to change a trait effect?

First question- I don't know.
Second question- I think you can assign traits such as science, military, agriculture, etc., in addition you can have your tech tree give hidden techs that only the civs you want can have.
Mods that have Religious features include (but not limited to) Heretic Cata's My Mod, Medieval Mod II, and CCM.

Thanks for your quick answer, Moosezilla.
You're right with your ideas. Searching deeper I saw that there is effectively a hidden tech called "religious trait", given as a not tradable free tech to religious civs, from wich religous new abilities are depending. One mystery cleared :)

Anybody else having an idea concerning machinegunners?

I keep getting the following error when using this mod:

Load Error

Error Reading File

Missing Entry in "Scenarios\Rhye´s of Civilization X\text\PediaIcons.txt":
ANIMNAME_PRT0_Swordsman

The game will now exit

Any idea why? I downloaded it multiple times and reinstalled from scratch in different computers and keep getting this error...

Does it literally say 'Rhye's of Civilization X'?

yep, exactly as quoted...

BTW: My system is a Win7 Home Premium, with Civilization Complete bought from gamersgate.

Edit: I can play normally for some time... i suspect that it happens when one of the AI´s discover Iron Working and tries to build a swordsman or something...

Edit2: where exactly i can find the Rhye "basic mod"? The links in the first thread are broken and Rhyes page only has the "extended mod" for download.

I think i found the problem, and it is my own fault... i created 3 custom units for use of the barbarians and forgot to add the entries for the pediaicons file... will exclude them...

Just add a couple entries to the PediaIcons.txt file and you're all set. :)

Anyone got any idea on how to use this mod? I downloaded it and got just an exe. Does it half a scenario file that can be opened?

Isn't it a self-extracting exe?

Finally got it to work. Play as France and there is a tribal village, walked into it with a scout. It turns into a city and the city is named Orleans, roughly with accurate placement too on the river. Mind is blown

I am working on a new mod for both civ3 and civ4, called Rise of the Penguins, I was wonderng if you could make a Penguin leaderhead for both versions. Its my first real in depth mod an your help would be greatly apreciated. Any kind of Penguin would work. Kind of like Tux the Linux Penguin that is animated. Or whatever you would think works the best.
Thanks,
Ceaser1345

Moderator Action: Rhye is not a unit maker anyway, post a request in the unit request. And if you don't get a positive answer... May be you are the only one interested by penguin, and creating several demands is not guaranteed to change that.

I downloaded and started to play RoCX and the AI civs are kicking my butt. Why? I am playing on chieftain. When I loaded the game I noticed that underneath "Chieftain" on the difficulty chooser it said "difficulty" and under "Sid" (at the other end) it said "easiest". I figured that was a typo or something? Is the difficulty bar really reversed? And why am I getting smeared?

Just checked: Chieftain (Easiest) and Sid (Hardest). Not sure what's going on in your computer, i played this mod many times and ewerything was OK. But YES, the gameplay here a bit harder than in unmodded civ, so nothing surprising if AI's kicking your butt at first time. Try again, it's excellent mod.
