Where is the random map

Ah, BBW: I remember in the first pages somebody mentioning me for growth problems and terrain graphics. I have downloaded it now but I won't copy anything from it: as I've always said, adding lots of wonders, techs, units, governments is not my purpose (except if absolutely necessary to correct inaccuracies) - I leave it to the Double your Pleasure - style mod. Other are my goals, and the only mods which concept is nearer to mine are Teturkhan's ToT and old KoC's Civ3onEarth. So we are opponents but very different! BBW will have to defend from upcoming Rise 'n' Rule! :)
Anyway thank you, I may consider the 2/1/2 stats with +2. I already thought of this but renounced as I feared that AI wouldn't build it (I think AI decides by stats and builds the cheaper unit).

Lachlan, I postponed the random map version to some days after 2.4. I want to be sure that everything's allright with the patch, so that I won't have to correct twice (the standard mod and the random version).

The game will crash if not ? ;)

Some thoughts on the new units:
Ive been playing a game as the Persians with 2.4. Seeing my starting position amonsgt the hills and mountains wasnt too good I opted for an offensive strategy making sure I built the Statue of Zeus wonder. The new Elephant archer unit greatly complimented this wonder. Needing elephants anyway, I had 2 or 3 of my cities building the new unit, and was able to conquer the various Middle eastern and Indian civs.

I didnt realy built any Camel Riders, although they do add alot of flavor to the game. What doesnt add flavor is now that Im in the 1970s with Tanks, Mech infrantry and stuff Im still able to build Camel Riders and Elephant Archers (as well as Hussars and Cavalry btw). Maybe those units could be made obsolete around Militairy tradition, or at least Motorised Transport.
Furthermore, I was thinking it might be an idea to add a new Camel unit later on (seeing you just need it for the early Camel Riders) - something on the lines of a Lawrence of Arabia desert guerilla type unit perhaps?

Just some thoughts.

Good ideas, bjorn...
The best method for obsoletion of a unit is to make it upgrade to a unit but uncheck the flag that gives the unit the ability to upgrade... That way the unit simply cannot be built anymore, nor can it be upgraded irrationally.
I think I'm gonna go start a game with one of the civs that gets one of the new units.

On a diffrent note: I was looking at the mountains and plateaus in both deserts and arctic areas - wouldnt it look much cooler if there was a special desert mountain and plateau so you dont get that green border making it stand out like a sore thumb?
The same goes for mountains in arctic areas, because although you can add snow covered mountains, they still have that green patch around them.
Speaking of snow covered mountains - the Kilimanjaro mountain is the highest mountain in africa and it does have (loads of) snow on it - maybe a nice little touch for a future map edit?

Thank you very much.

I have noted about Kilmanjaro, and of upgrading. I didn't know it were possible to make it only obsolete. I'll do it in next patch.
I'm afraid nothing can be done to the green borders: it's civ3 terrain system, it sucks.

isnt it possible to draw a new terrain? we're playing with an entire new tile set in this mod after all.

Every time you add a mountain, a grassland is made under it. This can't be avoided, it's hardcoded. But there's a possibility, if I extend the mountains to cover the green...I'll try, but it won't be easy

yay! that would be good. I dont mind so much the snow covered mountains on your map coz theyre usually surrounded by marshes and forests in Siberia and Canada. A 'desert mountain' would be cool though.

While were discussing the tile set - am I the only one who finds the pollution a bit difficult to spot? The old orange civ3 pollution might not have looked quite authentic, but at least it was clearly visible. Whenever I have a city with pollution and theres unrest in some cities and I have to assign buildings in others, I sometimes have trouble finding the pollution cities again.

I'm almost through a new game with Carthage and the changes make a big difference. Camel riders are a great flavor unit, it was great to be able to quickly move around the Sahara and explore. Elephant archers are awesome too. Great additions Rhye.

Carthage has become a fun civ to play. They still have major terrain challenges to overcome but now they're a good alternative to playing one of the Euro civs. I'm starting a new game today and I am curious as to how well the AI will play Carthage.

Only thing odd I noticed and it might be a fluke was the Black Death was total overkill in my latest game. Did you change any settings for it? I had it for over 35 turns in the early industrial and it was all over Europe. Plague is just a nuisance for human players but the AI doesn't have the sense to get its units out of infected cities so defenders die like crazy. In my Carthage game, the Romans were dominant in Europe and were kicking butt but they were so ravaged by black death the other Euro civs tore them apart in about 20 turns.

Last thing, in a previous game I found that there's a hill immediately north of Greece's starting point that miraculously turns into grassland when it is roaded and mined. Not sure if that's a bug in the game or what but it seemed odd.

Thanks for the great mod Rhye!

Horton, what's so horrible about what happened to Rome? That exactly how it was in history! Rome was big, but the plague knocked the empire out of the ring.
Well, it's not certain that the plague was the main reason, but it was part of it.
