RIP Stephen Hawking

A great man has left us. :(

I'd like to think he's zooming around the universe checking it all out... But my Mom had a saying - you get hit on the head and you dont know what happened, get hit on the head harder and you know everything?

She was agnostic/atheist

In the interesting trivia coincidence department : Albert Einstein was born, and Stephen Hawking died, on Pi day.

Maybe we should just officially make Pi Day Science Day.

When I was a kid just reading about him inspired me so much. If every generation has some scientific idol to look up to ours was definitely Hawking. He’s yet got the potential to be the most influential person of the last century depending on how effectively some of his work ends up being applied.

Perhaps he does know everything about black holes now, perhaps not. Perhaps being dead and the interior of a black hole are similar states of non-existence.

Whatever the case, he will surely be missed.

He will surely rest in peace as his brain simply stopped working. It's us mere mortals who cannot accept that simple fact. None of us 'remembers' a thing before birth and we will simply pass after death. Too cruel?

I don't have the brain power to really follow all the theories that astrophysicists come up with but I got inspired by his ideas and his brave struggle with his own body. What a great man!

I own both A Brief History of Time and A Briefer History of Time, the latter of which even comes with colour photography.

Woke up and saw this news on my phone. Very unfortunate. I've read a few of his books. I also liked the fact that unlike some other prominent scientists (looking at you Richard Dawkins) his politics weren't a steaming pile of putrid garbage.
