NES= Never Ending Story.
BUT....
1. This is a Board NES. You can write stories, but they wont have ANY impact on the game at all.
2. This will and should end. Hopefully when someone wins, and not when everyone quits.
3. Read the Rules, without them there is no game.

Map
I typed in "Game Map" into google, and used the first map i liked that i found. had to clean it up though.
There are 46 Playable areas on the map. there are also forests and mountains which are basicaly not used in this game. The roads leading through mountains and forests DO connect the areas they end in.
Armies are represented on the map as Balck Squares, they always belong to the player who's color the Area is filled in with.

Joining
Pick an area to start in.
Pick what color you want to be (red, green, light blue and so on)

Economy
Each Area you own provides you with 3 "gold" each turn. Any gold not spent is saved for you for next turn.

Acquiring Armies
Each Army costs 2 gold to build and 1 gold/turn as upkeep. Each province can only produce 1 new Army per turn. so when you want a new army, tell me which province(s) is building the army, and that is (are) the provinces that will have armies added to them. If you do not specify where an army is bought (or try to buy two in one area) I will pick where to put them.

Moving Armies
Every turn every army you own can move to any area adjacent to one its in. this includes going through a forest or mountain via a road. Armies CAN move the turn they are bought.

Getting into a Battle
All fighting is to the death (or destruction of the army), no retreats or anything like that.
If armies of different players end the turn in the same area, they fight. If one player sends armies from area A to area B while the other player sends armies from area B to area A (ie attacking eachother), the armies will fight "between" the two areas and only the winner will go on to their destination (the loser is dead).

Deciding a Battle
For every army you have in a Battle, I will flip a coin. Every "heads" coin means you've killed an enemy army, "tails" means that army missed". Both (all)sides throw at same time, no attacker advantage or anything. If both sides have surviving armies, they all throw again. This repeats till one side (or both) is completely destroyed.
(i wont actualy throw coins, i have a computer do this for me, but its just as random, and no coins landing on their edges ;) ).

More then two sides to a battle make for VERY much blood
If 3 or more nations have armies in the same area, the "defending" side (the one who controls the area) is considered to be fighting all the other sides at the start. so all "attackers" hits kill an army of the defender. once there are no defenders left, the "Attacker" with the most armies left becomes the "defender" and fights against all the other attackers (ties for biggest are decided by random number).

Updates
I am hoping that this game will go fast, like maybe an update every other day or so... but it depends on how quickly i get orders from the players. as a general rule, updates will be done within 24-36 hours of me getting the second to last orders. So last person to send them has 24 hours after that point, and i give myself a 12 hour window to do it in.

Sending Orders
I suggest PMing orders to me, cause if you post them in the thread others might take advantage of knowing where you're moving armies to and what you're leaving undefended.
In your orders i need to know the following things:
1. Which Areas are you buying armies in. (remember only one each, so you can just list the area names)
2. From where to where are you sending aremies.
example orders said:
new armies in: Plewre, Caistor, Northueber.
move:
1 army from Northueber to Lancaster
2 armies from Caistor to Lincoln
2 armies from Plewre to Buxton

Players (i never learned the names of colors, so i may be wrong about the colors here)
Erik Mesoy - Avalon - Red
ThomAnder - Uxworth - Yellow
Erez87 - Warwick - Dark Purple
Tossi - Leicester - Blue
Warman17 - Cair Gai - Green
Emu - Sussex - Gray
Disenfrancised - Manchester - Purple
TerrisH - Northueber - Pink

You know me, Roddy. I'll join this, and I'll hang around and send orders as best I can.

Avalon, lower left.

Welcome. What color you want?

Also, should mention, that orders should probably be PMed to me.. you dont want anyone else reading your orders and knowing where you will have armies and where you wont.
which means i gotta go clean out more room in my inbox....

ThomAnder, as soon as i figure out how to change the image on imageshack i'll add your yellow self to the map...

Blue in Leicester please.

I'm in and I won't leave until this is over.

-predesigned starting locations might be good idea, to even the chances for everybody.

I can't be the pirates of penzance?

Fine can I try out Cair Gai, I'd like a nice green. For Wales!

i thought about picking starting locations myself, and just letting you all chose which one you wanted, but encountered 2 problems with that.

1. no clue how many players would join, so dont know how to space the starting locations.
2. no clue which of these areas would be "more important" then others to designate them as starting locations. (way less importnat then #1)

Sussex! any colour except pink

i think a couple more players or so and i'll put a stop to the joining process...

for your first orders, you all have 3 gold to spend (from the 1 area) so can build one army, banking 1 gold, and move that one army to an area next to your starting position to take that area.
or you could just save your 3 gold... but why?

since this is a prety simple turn, i'm hoping to do the update tomorow afternoon (its afternoon here now, so in around 24 hours or so), but this is just a hopefully type deadline, cause i know some of you wont want to send orders till you're sure that noone else will join right next to you (ie the joining is done)

to Leicester:
we take stafford while you take towchester?

Manchester for me, very light purple for colour

Edit in which dis sucks the life out of things ;)

Examing the Topology of the network reveals 5 defensible "regions" of the net (where you can close off parts of the net by holding only 2 or 3 nodes), and a central battle field of everything else:

Here's my opinions of the regions and their value

-The Southwest where holding Durham and Salisbury gives you 7 provinces for the prince of 2, and allows you to fall back under an assualt: Definately the best.
-The Southeast where holding Middlesex and Wessex gives you 6 province for the prince of 2, not as good as the southwest due to number of of provinces and the interesting structural vulnerablity if middlesex is lost giving no place to hide.
-Wales where holding cheshire, Wroexter and Cairleon give you 9 for the prince of 3, not as good as the regions with only two access points but larger if you can hold it all, losing the 3 entrynodes is very troubling as the "Wales" net has low internal connectivity when compared to the southwest or the south east
-The North where holding Manchester, Buxton and Lincoln gives you 7 for the price of 3, has better connectiveity than wales but less provinces
-East Anglia where holding Northfok, Cambridge and Essex gives you six for the price of 3, but better connectivity than the north, a toss up which is better really.

Towchester, Alabany and Middlesex are the centre of the network it appears.

Thus it appears Erik Mesoy has chosen the best place to start (clever bugger that he is) and I am willing to bet that he wins bar a coaltion to stop him ;)

Lurking systems- ONLINE.

Were there board NESes on world maps? I think there were, but I'm unsure.

ok, i think that's it for joining.
maybe one more if someone realy wants to, but i'm not sure realy...
but in either case first turn orders due by this time tomorow the lates, if i get em earlier, i'll do the update earlier (it shouldt take more hten a minute with 2 fights at MOST breaking out)

yes tehre were, i prefer this type of local board cause the world one its hard to do distance with well (ie if it takes an army two turns to walk from switzerland to italy, why does it take same two from canada to mexico or worse from england to brazil.
