Role Play Challenge: Wang Kon the non-Isolated Isolationist

If you intend to hit space (seems likely at this stage with cultural being the only other real possibility), then my suggestion is to really push for a Great Engineer to hit Mining Inc. Though you won't be trading for metals, the ones you have now will certainly help and hammers are so key. You definitely need to push for one very large and capable production/Iron Works city with this - especially with the Internet as a key component to this plan.

The only way I'd disagree with Kev is if GEs could rush Apollo. But since they can't, Mining Inc. is the way to go if you get a GE.

I'd use a GE for the 3GD. SP ftw, don't found crappy corps if you can't even trade for resources. SP will make you get enought hammers.

Oh. Figures. Did they change SP in BTS to make it better in terms of production? Or is it just the Workshop +1f?

+10% production in all cities. Low maintenance. No corps. No distance maintenance. +1F so nearly every city will be able to work 15+ workshops late game. This plus GA should let him crunch out a ss part every other turn.

Sounds good.

I'll get back to my OCC. I actually survived on Deity long enough for Cyrus to tech Communism. Then it's a PA with him! :)

Looks to me like Cyrus will vassalize Gandhi and come sailing back for you. If you don't have oil its game over.

Also, the UN is like Sauron, you can't stop it just by destroying its physical body.

And as such, why not build the U.N. in a boarder city, Gift it to an AI, then attack take the city and burn it down.

I'm not sure this will work. In the Genghis Conquest RPC I was pushing the dom limit, so I gifted a couple of cities to Ghandi before I DOWed him. When I recaptured those cities I wasn't given the option to raze.

If we built the internet, we get any tech that 2 civilizations know. So techs like monotheism/theology/divine right/ etc... that we do not manually tech will be gotten automatically.

The internet can be a big disappointment sometimes. In my current offline game as Willem I built the internet. Victoria had refrigeration and superconductors on me, everyone else was backwards. I got Divine Right and theo from the internet. What a waste of hammers.:p Frankly, I think this is ridiculous. It should give you techs from the the 2 most advanced civs, not 2 random civs.

That's not what it means.

It gives you the techs if ANY 2 civs have them.

Thanks for clearing that up! :goodjob: I can't believe I never knew how that worked.

I say it's too bad that it doesn't give said techs to all players, like the Manhattan Project and Nukes

Thanks for clearing that up! :goodjob: I can't believe I never knew how that worked.

I had the same mithought for a very long time. The internet was a mystery to me until the past 6 monthes.

Wamg Kon, the non-Isolated Isolationist: Part VI

Played the nest segment, rather peaceful although we did have to avert a war.

Techpath was essentially as discussed: Physics/Economics/Corporation/Assembly Line (just in time)/Electricity/RailRoad/Combustion/Industrialism/Radio/Plastics/Computers

And saved there

WE got the free GS from Physics

WKF0000.jpg

which we used for another Academy. We also popped another GS, for yet another academy. I'll have to tally up the number we got.

Once we teched through electricity, the tech situation was

WKF0001.jpg

Definitely improving.

Also Suliman had a "We have enough on our hands" when I asked him to declare war. Not that I would take it, but it was my gauge on how those two southern neighbors were doing. So I decreased the slider 10% and used the accumulated gold to upgrade military.

Once I passed Suliman in power

The "WHEOOH" messaage went away.

After industrialism we find there is NO shartage of aluminum. Space should be pretty straight foreward.

We did get an uprising by our island city

WKF0005.jpg

Instigated by Hammarabi, which we ignored and just fixed the resources. As yoiu can see by any screenshot, we have yet to examine what is beyond our borders! Isolation indeed! We shall wait for the world map at satellites.

We did manage

WKF0006.jpg

But lost R&R and the Eifel Tower race. Good enough.

We also find Hammarabi built the UN.

WKF0007.jpg

We abstained, not interested in these world decisions. Ham got the chair.

We got a rather nasty influenza random event.

WKF0009.jpg

We kept the city quarenteed.

And even though we abstained here.

WKF0010.jpg

We got pushed into enviromentalism. Not really a bad thing, we could use the health and the lost specialist is not a problem. In fact we may revolt to US next segment.

OK, we started building the internet in our Ironwowrks city which willt ake 47 turns and I do not see how we shall lose the race.

We saved here, and the status

Cities

TEchs

WKF0013.jpg

And Victory conditions.

WKF0014.jpg

Looks pretty secure. We have the military for defense. The internet should keep us in the tech lead. We have the production base to build the spaceship.

All we need is to finish the job!
