The sort of capitalism that Romney practiced had very little to do with the free market. Like most of the extremely rich, his wealth came from exploiting government granted privileges.
He manipulated transfer payments instead of building companies that sold products for exchange. He did not practice the kind of capitalism that would have been recognized by Adam Smith and Co.
