Time to start SGing again.

Version: RAR 1.04 prebeta
Settings: random, open to discussion
Difficulty: Emperor or Demigod, also open to discussion.
Variant: None at all, this is for scrubbing off the RaR rust, or learning about RaR, depending what you've done before.
VCs: All enabled, all allowed.
Rules: I'm sure these have been formalised somewhere, but meh. Summary is exploits bad, reputation good. 24 hr got it, 48 to play.

OK, this one is set to go too. Emperor or Demigod? What sort of level are you guys comfortable playing? I'll make this continents, random civ I haven't played for a while, and simply take the first non-ugly start I roll.
 
The difficulty doesn't matter to me. Whatever you guys are comfortable with works.

If I had to choose one though, I'd say Emperor because I haven't played RaR in a while. Either one is fine though.
 
Yea i have 1.04 prebeta.

I'd prefer it to be Emperor, since i dont really know a thing about RAR, except that there is a lot of different techs, units, buildings.

Looking forward to this one also. It's been a while since I've played RaR.
 
This one is underway too. We are Russia, EXP & SCI, random opponents, continents map, roaming barbarians. Our UU is the Cossack, a 5/3/2 with blitz & extra hp version of the 6/3/2 dragoon.

Roll a start, see 2 huts, hill to found on, but no food bonus. It's not great, but certainly not too ugly.

Ranger pops the western hut, gets pottery
Tribe moves 1N and founds Moscow on a coastal hill with fresh water.
Moscow starts a ranger, research started on Ritualism. I want to get to Dynasticism ASAP, I want to get to second tier techs quickly as well, as first tier can usually be popped or traded. Ritualism lets us go straight to writing.

3800BC: Moscow builds Ranger-->Granary. In chiefdom, our food situation is very ugly. Granary will finish 2 turns before moscow grows.

3750BC: Pop hut, get Boat Building

3550BC: Pop hut, get a village. St Petersburg starts a wiseman.

3500BC: Pop a hut, get Sailing
Meet China. Domestication & Boat Building get us Masonry and 20 gold
Pottery & Sailing get us Warfare

3400BC: Research Ritualism, start Writing

3200BC: Meet Siam. Masonry and Domestication get us Cultivation and 65 gold.
Cultivation and Ritualism to China get us Scrape Mining

3100BC: Moscow builds Granary -->Starts Tribal Guard. I'm nervous about China, I want at least a vet T.G. in both cities.

3000BC: St Pete's finishes wiseman, starts Harbour. I should have switched the wiseman to a harbour, but I thought about it too late. Until we reach Dynasticism, our only 3 food square is St Pete's pearls using a harbour.
Pop a hut, get a tribe. :dance:
For those who have forgotten/don't know, tribes treat all terrain as roads, and see 2 squares. This tribe can help us explore until we find a good city location with it.

2750 BC - Meet Vikings, trade them Pottery for 100 gold.

2710 BC - Move Rangers around...

2670 BC - Move Scouts around. Waiting for Writing to trade for Slavery and Caste System.
IBT - Barbarians approach St. Petersburg.

2630 BC - Production from St. Petersburg is switched from Harbor to TG.
IBT - Nothing

2590 BC - Trade Writing + 105 Gold for Caste System (Chinese). Researching Urbanization. Also trade Writing + 5 Gold to Siam for Slavery. Move Worker so it doesn't die to Barbs. Set Lux Slider to 30%
IBT - Siam sends spearman one space away from St. Petersburg

2550 BC - TG is finished. :thumbsup: Production at St. Petersburg set back to Harbor.

Overall Thoughts: I didn't really know exactly what to do with the tribe. I did see it could make a city, and Kiev is a pretty good spot. Sorry if I maybe messed that up a bit, I think I did everything else decent, considering it's been a year or two. I did get Caste System from the Chinese, along with Slavery from Siam. We need Urbanization, then we will be able to get Dynasticism.
 
Some comments:
Russia - glad about this. haven't played them since ages, IIRC I *never* played them in 1.04.
Opening turns: Nothing to add. Capital location is a superb choice, research/trade choices were fine. No food bonus? Ugly...
Second set: Moscow cannot finish a Clan under Despotism. Needs to be switched...
The Tribe: Extremely handy for Scouting, and, it would have worked as MP :crazyeye: . Guess I had waited to use it for a resource spot, Iron/Gold or something else comparably valuable.
Despair, could we get a screenie, to discuss the resource situation, and city spots?

Bet Moscow sits on Grapes or Coffee... :mad:.
 
Yeah, we can. My bad on the tribe thing, I haven't played RaR in so long. Also, the Clan still had a couple turns left, so production can be switched.

That would work. That was one of the main reasons I put it there for now.

There would've probably been other good spots, but that one was near a few resources. I was hoping we could build a couple culture buildings and build one or two more cities in that area to cover them all. Either way, doesn't matter to me.

Great RaR SG started , I'll be watching around and earn some skills playing RaR .
Today I played my first one , I'm still allive there but I let other Empires be stronger , what I never do .
