Sana05 - Return to RAR

That would work. That was one of the main reasons I put it there for now.

There would've probably been other good spots, but that one was near a few resources. I was hoping we could build a couple culture buildings and build one or two more cities in that area to cover them all. Either way, doesn't matter to me.

Sounds reasonable. We might want to drop a monument in there now to pick up that rice to the SW, then it can pump clans after dynasticism to grap all the resources.

Russia - glad about this. haven't played them since ages, IIRC I *never* played them in 1.04.

Same. And I like the idea of a UU that is unique, rather than simply beefing up one of a/d/m. I tossed a coin between russia and Zulus.

No food bonus? Ugly...

Yeah, and none anywhere near us that I've seen. An apple over by Siam is the closest.

Second set: Moscow cannot finish a Clan under Despotism. Needs to be switched...

Yes please. We are not the AI.

The Tribe: Extremely handy for Scouting, and, it would have worked as MP . Guess I had waited to use it for a resource spot, Iron/Gold or something else comparably valuable.

Yeah. But that's why it's a RAR warmup, rust is to be expected. We can't build tribes, ATAR and 2 tile sight is really useful, I usually reserve them for really good city locations, such as FP camels.

Anybody want to have a go at a dotmap?

Also, we have the western part of that continent to ourselves, don't we? 2 units on the two tiles south of moscow create a choke, so I think we want to expand east now, then to the west at leisure, unless there's a really good spot to the west to grab early.

My bad. It's been so long since I've played RaR. I'll get better with it as we go along. I'll try to read some more on it here in a bit. I hope I did alright.

Yeah, looked good to me. Feel like giving us a dotmap?

A dotmap is a map of where we want to put our next few cities. Take a screenie the same way you did, open it up in paint, and put coloured dots where you want our cities to be. To upload it, simply click on 'upload file' down the bottom of the page. Then you'll have a url for it, at civfanatics.../uploads12/sana05dotmap.jpg, or something similar. put that address inside

I think you should press "Z" and then take the screenshot

First page. There is already one with Z pressed.:crazyeye:

What I meant by "on screen bigger", if that's what you're referring to, is how to get it like the ones Sanabas posts, to where they are bigger on the forum.

If you want it to be really big you can fax all of us a 11 x 17 printout of the screen, although we should all be handy enough to pick up the save and look for ourselves if we want them pictures.

That's kind of what I figured, but.... People need pics I guess.

 Actually, no. Somehow I can't figure out how to do this.... :mischief:

Despair: Absolutely no prob with the Tribe; this one is intended as kind of a warm-up game, and if we only manage to grab both Iron and Horses (which is extremely likely), victory is pretty assured, and we can afford even some major blunders.

Hahaha, I didn't even notice it was missing. Despair, can we please have the save?

Classical Hero, you are up. It's been 24 hours+, are you here?

Sorry about that. I got confused about the numbers because I already saw a Sana 05 and thus was waiting for Sana 07.

Preturn. I move a Bonus grassland to the pearls outside of St. Petersburg and increase the science rate by four turns. The effect on production is nothing because that shield is wasted anyway.

IBT. The Barbs move towards our worker. and our city.

Turn 1. I move the worker to safety.

IBT. We defeat the Barb.

Turn 2. Moscow cannot build a clan so I build a worker housing instead. I left it to buil the clan to see what happened, but I was surprised that it wa being built considering that it will not grow above 2 an thus we need to build the more expensive Hardy clan if we are to settle. I should have ready the whole thread before I started. :shake:

IBT. Not much.

Turn 3. We build a worker housing and start work on a hardy clan.

IBT. Not much.

Turn 4. I turn off the Lux slider because we do not need have all our citizen happy, just enough to stop them from rioting. Actually we do not need any lux because we have few citizens and thus the lux rate is not needed. Once we get up to 3 citizens in some towns, then we can increase the rate, but not now.

IBT. Not much, except being asked to leave for haveing a Ranger in the territory of the Vikings.

Turn 5. More exploration. Having alook at the Victory screen is very difficult because China and the Vikings are almost the same clour.

IBT. Not much.

Turn 6. More exploration.

IBT.

Turn 7. More exploration.

IBT. not Much.

Turn 8. We discover Urbanisation and now start on Dynastism. We will get it in 14 turns. I also do this deal with China.

IBT. Nothing.

Turn 9. I move a Moscow BG to the gold and increase the rate of the production for the Hardy clan, but it means that Moscow is losing food, but there should be enough food to keep it at 2 when the HC is built.

IBT. I thought some Barbs would attack our Rnager, but they did not.

Turn 10. More exploration.

Here is the situation as I leave it.
Moscow. If I am incorrect about the situation and Moscow will go down to 1 bbefore the production of the HC, then obviously we need to change it. Just doing some counting, we can change the last turn back to the BG and we still will get the HC in three turns, so whoever takes over, remember that because we must try and setle faster than the AI. We must get to that Iron Horse spot before the AI.

Here is the Mini map so we can see the whole situation as it stands.

The Save.

Sana05
Inherited:
Should work out with the Hardy in Moscow…though I’d seriously prefered an escort for it. Lets just hope we’ll get him safe down to the South.
Hit enter.

Turn 1: 2110BC
Scouting.
IBT: Barb shows up 2 S of Moscow. Shanghai founded on the way to ‘our’ spot (but not actually stealing a tile). Siam learns Urbanization.

Turn 2: 2070BC
Scouting. Ranger ends next to a Barb.
IBT: Hardy finished, Moscow drops to pop1. Barb there turns away, other Barb way down in the SE does not attack our Ranger.
Moscow Hardy->TG, Kiev TG->Worker.

Turn 3: 2030BC
Send the TG from the capital with the Hardy.
IBT: Mao demands and gets 23gp.

Turn 4: 1990BC
Huts gives Fermentation. Kiev also has Grapes right outside its borders. See no need to sell it, no Techs know by the AIs.
IBT: Pete Harbor -> WH

Turn 5: 1950BC
Zzz…Rangers scout, Worker roads, Hardy+escort wander around.
IBT: Ragnar demans our Ranger out, no prob dude – that was my intention anyway.

Turn 6: 1910BC
:rotfl: The Scotts of all tribes teach us Weaving. Guess what we do not have?

weaving2.jpg

Turn 7: 1870BC
The Barb near our core is still around, and threats our combo…evade.

Turn 8: 1830BC
Zzzz…
IBT: Babylon completes The Oracle. Siam knows Dynasticism, we’ll get it in 3.

Turn 9: 1790BC
Siam would only offer like 70gp out of 419 for each of our Techs. Not worth it; but, get 130gp from Ragnar for Myst (which everyone else in the world should already know).
IBT: Oh crap, Siam demands Fermentation. Considering our immense military, I cave…
Moscow TG->Archer (?). China has Dyna as well; research time drops for one turn.

Turn 10: 1750BC
Ragnar has a Worker for sale – cannot remember if we’re allowed to do so; we would get him and his odd 24gp for a cheap tech.

Comments:
No good spots near the core revealed; Coffee in abundance near Kiev. The combo and a Ranger will be demanded out IBT, should be no problem.
I for one would finish the Archer (or another vet TG, or a Vet Warrior if you’d like to gamble) before revolting, there is a Barb close to Moscow in the fog. Hope we’ll grab the Iron/Horses – by all means, do found it on the coastal plains, despite the Grapes; otherwise, we’ll have to rely on Chinese roads.
Then, I’d get some infra and units up; some Vet Warriors may be nice. Could be used to block the way to our peninsula, and can be upgrade one we connect Iron; not much use for cash anyway.
No end of turns pic, nothing interesting revealed in the last couple of turns.
Oh, and don't forget the Viking Worker, if that's fine.

The Save

Looks good. I'm always happy to buy workers if they're available, free labour is always good. Be nice to get out of chiefdom too, especially given our complete lack of food bonuses.

Thoughts for post-dynasticism research? I'm usually a fan of <insert tech I can't remember>, then philo, to take democracy as our freebie. I think I prefer democracy to republic for the cash-rush ability, but I might be wrong.

The roster:

Sanabas -
Despair888 -
Classical Hero -
DocT -
Azzaman - up
Beorn-el-Feared - on deck

I am surrounded by syndicalists and left-wing union people where I live, so I barely dare repeat that one aloud

Diplomacy always sounds good when you don't plan on :whipped:, which is mostly all the time.
