Below is a list of statements, all of them said by either Santorum or the Ayatollah Khameini. Can you figure out which statements were said by which person?

1. "We were put on this Earth as creatures of God to have dominion over the Earth."

2. "We believe in democracy and we also believe in freedom, but we do not believe in liberal democracy."

3. "Although the literal meaning of socialism is equitable distribution of wealth, it is associated with other concepts which we hate. Over time, socialism has come to be associated with certain things in society that are unacceptable to us."

4. "The radical feminists succeeded in undermining the traditional family and convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness."

5. "This is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war. This is a spiritual war."

6. "This is a war between two willpowers: the willpower of the people and the willpower of their enemies."

7. "Go back and read what the sirens did once you arrived on that island.… They devour you. They destroy you. They consume you."

8. "The Iranian people's hatred for America is profound."

So how well did you do?

News article I took this from: http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2012/02/29/grand_ayatollah_or_grand_old_party?page=full

Attributed them all correctly except for #8.

If you leave the obvious crazy out of it, their manners of speech are actually quite different. Most notably when Khamenei uses the old Royal We.

Too true - I managed to get 6/8 correct by looking at the style of speech. Khameini has a more measured, almost formal tone, as opposed to Santorum's "regular-guy" style. When Santorum switched up his style in 7, it threw me for a loop, and 8 is just weird for Khameini to say.

7/8, I thought #2 was too obvious to be Khameini.

Then Santorum switched up his style in 7, it threw me for a loop
I only got that one because I remember reading an article that included that quote.

If you pick and choose phrases like that, I suppose most people, completely out of context, can be prepared to someone else.

Let me Godwin this...
You could compare the best statements by Hitler to the worst statements by Obama or Reagan, and run the same quiz.

Bamm!

Then try to make a quiz where people can't tell the difference. Else I'm unimpressed with your argument.

That's the point of the OP, isn't it?
The point of the OP was to present the two as similar. They're not.

The big difference being, Santorum chooses to live over here, in the United States, where the law says you can't kill somebody just for being the wrong religion. Whereas apostacy is punishable by death in many Islamic countries.

When a politician is open about wanting to impose his religious beliefs on people, his religious beliefs are the concern of the people.

Are you denying that Hitler may have said some things that are less insane than a recent US president (take your pick) at some points throughout his career?

When a politician is open about wanting to impose his religious beliefs on people, his religious beliefs are the concern of the people.
Careful. That applies to many other religions you might not be aware of. Such as global warming alarmism, anti-nuclear activism, and both sides of the abortion debate.

A lot of groups are open about wanting to impose their beliefs on others (the fact that not all of them have to do with worshipping an actual God, has nothing to do with it).

I believe the point of the OP was simply to share a funny quiz that actually stumped me. And since I'm the OP, I believe my opinion is the correct one.

Yes, surely there was no intention of making Sanitorium look bad...
You don't have to play games to do that though.
