Searching for the most challenging teamers?

Well I am not a moderator here, just another member, so I have no idea what yopur post said or how it may have broken the ToS here at CFC.

But I deny your statement that I said anything negative about the NQ group, saying "I don't know..." Is not a negative comment. Maybe you should just educate myself and the other posters here, if you see an oppurtunity to do so. That puts a positive spin on your group and is good PR.

I talk about Civplayers in a positive fashion because I know what we do well, and I do this without knocking other fansites. We all have roles top play in the Civ community to make this a better place for everyone.

I guess I give up I had a response written out as to my opinion on why I do not like the league, but I got logged out must have sat idle too long.

I guess I do find it offensive that you said "rules" of NQ group like you don't know. You have been in the lobby before and joined the group. These are both things that would make one think you know the "rules" as you put it.

I am not one who decides if things are offensive I never said that, but me being offended doesn't matter obviously.

Had a great teamer today, 3v3 to the finish, with only 2 reloads because of a great scientist bug.
My team eventually lost, but it was a fun game to the finish. We gg when half our territory was lost, I was close to nukes, but at that point, it wouldnt have done any good.

Hope to see some new faces to come play with us, 2v2/3v3... lots of fun.

Yes Civ5 seems to be picking up some momentum now, we had almost 40 players in chat last night and I noticed that NQ had over 25, it is all good to see, and I hope it continues.

well league was a joke in civ4 and early days of civ5 as well

that said it's still probably the place for the most 'challenging' games

At the risk of starting a heated discussion :-/ Why do you say the league was a joke in Civ4? Civ4 Warlords and the first part of the BTS era was some of the best Civ MP action around, with 200 clan players and some of the best CCC we ever had. Civ4 MP is a shadow of it's former self now, but without working mods like Civ3 had there is not the replayability, and then if that was not enough we had the map hack come along....

But we do have an up coming BTG mod that will solve the map hack among many other things and we hope it will become the standard in the lobby and promote new game settings as well as solve the cheating issues that we can't track now.

A quote comes to mind, "haters gonna hate"

We are simply trying to encourage Civ MP, why give us such a hard time? There is nothing in this for us, except having fun playing Civ.

I think we can agree that we are on the same team in that game no? :king:

league games were always some weird custom rulesets that had nothing to do with civ. it just scares people away because they come in expecting a 4x game, not some shallow clickfest

in civ5 they decide victory by score, so it's just whoever doesn't get attacked and gets to make useless stuff to boost points

in civ4 they had 2 city elim which was made the game way less strategic and just about early resource luck and quickmoves

when you play a ladder game it's 'challenging' but they take all the depth out and try to play it like a RTS when civ is nothing of the sort. maybe it's more fun for people that way, but if i want that type of game i'll actually play something that does it well.

Please tell me how we decide victory by score, with no turn limit games? :) Sounds like you haven't been around our play lately. Also, the custom rules, are in effect simply to balance ranked civ play. Players are not forced to play by the custom rules of "cton" its whatever the players in the game decide.

I find it interesting you would rather put down something that apparently you are unfamiliar with now, instead of simply agreeing we are on the same team and we can all support each other. :/

ladder ffa official settings were turn limit and score victory when i played civ5

maybe in civ5 you've managed to recently tweak the rules to be on the same team as actual strategy gamers, but civ4 ladder = total joke

Recent as in a mass support from the players to play without turn limits for over 6 months. Its basically since the big new patches.

And its still totaly dumb, civ5 is the new World of Warcraft with this rule, only played without quitting by nerds with no reallife.
No1 with a life can comit himself regularly to doing 5+ hours nothing else as sitting in front of his PC.

The 120 turns (usually around 3 hours) rule was a very well thought rule, a compromise between playing on a high lvl without ruining games and still being able to keep a life.

Espacially with idiots running around not wanting concede even when they are down to 1 city and the easy of defending a cap - decided games can last 2 more hours .. fun?

a game isnt more "strategial" just cause it got no defined ending, in fact opposite is the case;
with a turn limit players have to think ahead how and when to start boost score and still being able to stay allive. Many many games had an interesting ending with some players trying to boost score while others went for killing meanwhile.
WAY more fun as sitting around building universitites and thinking u r great (like others dont build universities ....)

What u gain with no turn limit? People sit there untill they finally get killed. Is it fun just waiting for your dead?

They only reason I accept sometimes to play without turn limit is that I know I ll kill the others usually in sub 2 hours anyway

civ doesn't score reward winning wars as much as building random stuff

in a timed ffa, you are at a ridiculously huge disadvantage if someone decides to full rush you while someone else just grows peacefully, and that's assuming you win the war

if you're evenly matched you just end up trading units, gaining 0 points, while some wonder whore on the other side of the map wins the match

yeah, but you still have a chance to win. with turn limit you have 0 chance

To cme back to the subject and to encourage people to join, here is two screenshots of great teamer we play in league.
