SGOTM 12 Maintenance Thread

Lets give them a couple of days to post their first save. They have not retired, and will have to speed up a bit if they plan to complete this game in time. Which is true for some other teams as well. Please ensure you distribute your turn sets over the three months to avoid playing under pressure in the end game.

I've reinstated the Culture graph. FWIW, I think the whole issue was a storm in a teacup.

yeah - we are waiting until everyone has finished so that we can fully study others graphs.

I have a technical issue, and am not sure where to look for an answer. I got a new computer after the game started, and installed BTS, patched it to 3.19, and installed the SGOTM 12 HOF Mod. However, if I try to run the HOF Mod I get an error message to the effect that I need to be using a User with Admin privileges. That's all well and good, but I AM on a User with Admin privileges. I only have one User ID on this computer.

I'm running Windows 7, and when I was originally configuring the system after I got it I did experience problem related to a corrupted User ID, so I had to create a new User ID with Admin privileges.

Any ideas on how to fix this or where to look for a solution?

I had a similar problem. Even if you are using an administrator account, you have to specify that the program always be run with admin level privileges. See solution 2a. in the page Neil linked to.

I do wonder about the 3 month period. I don't know how early space race you can get with the game setting and all the fallout but I would guess many teams are well away from completing the game.

We have just over 1 month left? I am guessing many teams are well over 100+ turns from completing the game. How set in stone is this deadline. I realise the game time was reduced due to civ 5.

I don't want any team to give away how many turns left they think their game has but maybe a sentiment to weather they can complete the game in time. It will serve no purpose if all teams struggle with 3 month deadline.

Certainly with many global teams it is tough to get everyone online at the same time.

I'm happy to accept a plea for an extension .. as long as it's backed by a reasonable number of teams.

Civ5 drove the start date rather than the end date. My primary reason for the December deadline was to avoid the Christmas family holiday season. If you guys are happy to continue into January, please say so. But we should do it now rather than when teams have compromised their later games by rushing.

Team Maple Sporks Moderator Action: spoiler info removed is probably not against an extension of the deadline to January.

It's not necessary to publish your current game status, or any clues to it, in order to answer this question.

I think the info was tongue in cheek, such a blast-off date is Shirley a bit early, no? Also we can see what date they're (approximately) at by checking the graphs.

This is an interesting game with factors built in that slow both development and play. Like to be able to give it the time it deserves. I second leif's position for X-team.

I'm against. Three months are enough, you have to manage your available time and plan accordingly so that you don't spend 1 month on 25 turns.

JUst trying to make a point :)

PD is aim to launch in 16th century, so there's little problem for us to complete in time. Just kidding, however, personally I'd like to finish it before Christmas.

Fifth Element wouldn't be against an extension, I don't think.

We can probably finish on time withuot rushing too much, but with Civ 5 and the incoming Thanksgiving and Xmas an extension of a month or so can be a good option.

Team T'dr'duzk b'hazg t't is in favour of an extension by a majority vote of 57.142857% of absolute population based on a participation of 74.285714%.
