Not far enough! Require everyone to wear a helmet, shoulder pads and knee pads and steel toe boots, even in the shower!

But seriously I wouldn't mind knee pads and steel toe boots myself. :D

While we're at it, lets wrap everyone up in bubble wrap!

Actually, I was thinking it may lead to more stringent video game laws if anything. If his sole reason was some sick attempt to actually reenact a video game he was playing, its not going to be the gun that gets the most attention...

Please, we have all sort of video games in singapore from Counterstrike, halflife, Battlefield 2, Fear, quake war, and its easy to get Grand theft auto too from the neighbouehood friendly store. but no guns.

U will almost never see such incident happening in Singapore. and its not easy running around killing ppl with a cleaver.

Sadly yes. No one ever focuses on the real issues (be it the thing which actually causes death, or the reasons why someone would do such a thing), but instead picks up something they were into which they want to ban, and use it as an excuse.

Uh...if the video games were the reason he did this, wouldnt it be the "real" issue? What do you simply assume it would be an excuse?

Anyone should realise that correlation doesn't imply causation

Correct...but isnt that what you are doing by saying violent video games are not a "real" issue?

Well, to be totally fair, you will almost never see such an incident in Canada or the USA also.

Thats becoz they found easier and more powerful weapons. every country got their own share of loonies. Singapore is no exception, but by denialing them the access to more powerful weapons, the violent and damage could be contain.

imagine 1 day they legalize Bazooka in the USA.

The police shot him dead about twenty minutes after he began firing.

"If" being the important word there. It's an excuse because these efforts to ban things are based on rare high profile events, not on any studies.

Also we have no way to begin knowing in what way something should be restricted (what type of games? a total ban, or some kinds of restrictions? bans for adults, or just for children?) if we don't have any clue about how such a causation would work.
