Sick Day Thread

I just called the job, I'm not going to work today. I started felling like crap two days ago and yesterday's day of work was simply atrocious. My head feels like it's as big as a watermelon and my nose is clogged with what seems to be tons of mucus.

Usually when I take a day off it's to go rollerblading on the race track on St-Hélène island or to go at my parent's cabin on the lake, but not today. Today I'm going to sit on my ass, watch tv, eat some soup and gander at CFC.

What's your limit? Under what circumstances do you bail out on work? Is it a problem for you at your job if you call in sick? And what do you on these off days?

Well, maybe once in my life have a called in sick when I wasn't.

But, I had a bad run of health from late Feb. through the end of March.
1. Bad cold that involved me thinking I was gonna cough myself to death
2. 2 weeks later, another bad cold that was like the flu but w/out the nauseau and fever
3. Then got hoarse for 1 week
4. Got a toe infection (much more trouble than you'd think)
5. Got strepthroat
6. Got pink eye

For me, when World Cup comes around every 4 years, since most of the match is in midnight in this region.

Ah.... I love having a mental health day!
I used to call in sick a fair bit at my old job, but then again I didn't like it.
Only call in sick at this job when I'm in bed with a cold, tummy bug etc. But it can be a bit hard when there are only 3 of us who work here.

I don't have "sick days" as I've just been going to my college courses, but I will skip a class or two if I'm too tired to go that morning or I really feel lousy. A couple times I won't go to a class (I may go in later if I have other classes that day) if there does not seem to be a point in going that day (if I know the agenda ahead of time) or if I have too much work to do for other classes.

Uhh me = literally on the floor at work with bad sinus, cold and flu as well as indigestion. Sent home sick for 2 days
Then returned with resuced work load.

I stay home if I feel that for that day I'm not adequate for my job.

If it feels lousy I might still go to work. In that regard I'm kind of stubborn and hard-headed that I guess I should stay home rather than go to work.

Studying is all different thing again. To school you can always go when you are sick, you just don't learn or might not get anything out of it.

Since I handle a lot of money, I guess the limit is when I feel unable to concentrate (feverish, etc)

Most of my sick days at school are just because im tired and feel like a lie in, i normally get sick at weekends which is annoying :(

I never take false sick days. I've only had one or maybe two days at most off owing to illness in the last 5 years.

This is partly because I keep good health and also because my current work set up is enjoyable, so I never feel like I don't want to go to work because it's a grind. In my previous job I didn't because I was the manager of the projects I worked on. In this one it's for much the same reasons, I'd be letting the rest of the company down. Plus I have the same pressures as Paalikles to bear in mind.
